Choose the Right Sin
Today's devotional is from A Daily Taste of Proverbs
All a man's ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the hearts" - 21:2.
Some people are concerned about whether or not their actions are God's will, but never stop to ask if fear, pride, unbelief, racism, or laziness are keeping them from God's will. Often when people "choose" sins they believe are their worst in order to improve in that area, they select the ones most commonly assumed to offend God like needing to pray more, reading the Bible more often, or not using bad language or watching so much television. Seldom does anyone choose racism, stinginess, or hatred toward the other gender or another people group as their "sin" to work on.
Don't tell God what you are going to do or work on; rather ask Him to show you your heart. Then when you see that reality, you will know what God's priorities are for your walk. Reading Jeremiah 17:9-10 and Matthew 12:33-35 will give you a better understanding of this concept.
