Choose a Joyful Journey

Choose a Joyful Journey

What has brought you joy recently? I want to talk about joy, not happiness.

In my view, happiness has become an overrated and excessively commodified sales strategy. Let's face it - all those fluffy promises of finding happiness by following specific steps, visualising certain things, and relentlessly thinking "positive" thoughts until your face turns blue... they just don't sit well with me.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

Here's how I see it: Joy, to me, is similar to compound interest that grows through intentionality. When we engage in small acts and infuse daily tasks with a degree of purpose over time, we start appreciating the tiny practices that are woven into the fabric of the human experience. The pursuit of wholeness holds more fulfilment for skeptics and intellectual individuals than simply speeding through the happiness highway. But why is that? It's because the pursuit of happiness has become synonymous with superficial imitation, spiritual appropriation, and a narrow-minded approach to living a socially-approved life.

So, let's shift our focus to rediscovering joy. Let's explore the depths of our experiences and find those moments, actions, and connections that truly bring us joy. It's time to realise that joy is not a fleeting emotion but a state of being that can be nurtured through intentional choices and mindful living.

Your energy matters,
