Choose To Challenge - IWD
The status quo is a dangerous thing. It lulls us into a false sense of security and makes us perceive the unacceptable as normal and, finally, unchangeable. We challenge the two obstacles to change; the outside, the status quo that tells us we’re not allowed to achieve and; sometimes, even more destructively, the obstacles inside ourselves that tell us that society is right, that we can’t do, or should not even try.
For centuries, the status quo has labeled women as “can’t dos”. It has only been in the last 100 years that finally women have stood up and said “We can do! And we will!!” We will challenge the status quo. We will tear down the walls and break free of the chains that have held women back for so long. We find ourselves here on Int’l Women’s Day 2021, building on all that women have accomplished before us and paving the way for all that our daughters and granddaughters will do. As surgeons and firefighters, scientists and soldiers, teachers, mentors, friends and lovers. We say here today “We can do! We will do!
