Dramatic decisions in our lives take little or no effort.
The moment you decide on something big you go ahead and do it (almost like a do or die situation), but the daily boring (and right) choices take so much effort. You have to think about them, you have to prioritise them (this is the I in MAGIC - Individual Habits), you have to give them TIME. And these are the choices that will build your SuccessCulture.
It’s not often that the change we want to see in our lives will happen instantly or dramatically. That's for movie plots and colour filtered social media. Yet even though we understand this we still get frustrated by our own lack of momentum and results.
If you want to build your success you have to know how to Slight Edge it. You have to know that the right choices for success are ridiculously easy to make, but they can be boring and there is no drama. The drama usually comes when you haven’t achieved anything you set out to.
If you want to edge your way to a SuccessCulture as Jeff Olson says in the book The Slight Edge:
“you can’t make your everyday choices based on the evidence of your eyes. You need to make them based on what you know. You have to see through the eyes of time"
This is because anything you want to be successful at will take time. Unlike the movies a life doesn’t play out in 90 minutes, it takes 90 years! The successful things in your life have all taken time.
- How can you add a small positive action to build your success today?
- What about adding to that the next day?
- How are you using time to your advantage?
19 out of 20 people get frustrated and bored with the small steps it takes to build their success. How are you going to be different?
