The Choices programme: invest to prevent
Nottingham Community Housing Association
We’re Nottingham Community Housing Association, known as NCHA. We provide housing and social care services. #WeAreNCHA
I visited our Derbyshire WISH domestic abuse service to see what colleagues do as part of the Choices programme.
Through the programme we promote healthy relationships and educate young people who’ve displayed challenging or violent behaviours.
We’re investing in children now to prevent potential abuse in the future.
Making a choice
I visited a school and saw Morven, Sue and Julie working with the teenagers and supporting them to see the impact of controlling behaviour.
Watching Morven supporting a young man to better understand the impact of his actions and make positive choices was inspiring. The bond that was forged was deep and meaningful. It’s clearly making a huge difference.
Take a look at Morven's video for information on the support we provide.
Investment in prevention
I’m proud to be a part of an organisation that delivers this, and other, impactful services.
I can now see how learnt behaviour, especially from the adults, plays such a significant part in children’s behaviour.
Derbyshire WISH are enabling young people to make their own choices and move away from this type of behaviour. It really is life changing.
The programme is funded by the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner. I hope that we, as a society, continue to realise the importance of investment in prevention, especially with our children.
