Choices Maximize Talent

Choices Maximize Talent

Are you making good intentional choices? Do you have what it takes? What does it take to succeed? Where does your talent fit in the success journey?

We've been discussing our God given talents and becoming aware of our top 5 talents. Growing our talent to a strength, is so important for every leader.

"The Winners Manual"

Coach Tressel of the Ohio State Football Team had "The Winners Manual". It contained an article by the name, "Things That Do Not Require Talent." It highlighted characteristics such as punctuality, effort, patience, and unselfishness were important to the OSU football program.

Not one of these required any talent. The coaches tried to help their talented players realize their talent alone was not enough.

Those of us who neglect to make the right choices to realize and maximize our talent continually underperform. Their talent allows them to stand out, but their wrong choices make them sit down.

Their families, friends, teammates, coaches, and bosses see their gifts, but wonder why they often come up short of expectations.

Talent is a given

Their talent gives them opportunity, but their wrong choices shut the door. Talent is a given, but you must earn the success.

"Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you" Dr John C Maxwell,  Talent Is Never Enough

Choices you can make to maximize your talent:

  1. BELIEF lifts... our talent
  2. PASSION energizes
  3. INITIATIVE activates
  4. FOCUS directs
  5. PREPARATION positions
  6. PRACTICE sharpens
  7. PERSEVERANCE sustains
  8. COURAGE tests
  9. TEACHABILITY expands
  10. CHARACTER protects
  11. RELATIONSHIPS influence
  12. RESPONSIBILITY strengthens
  13. TEAMWORK multiplies... our talent

Make these choices, and you can become a talent-plus person. If you have talent, you stand alone. If you have talent plus, you STAND OUT.

One of the most important choices you will make is who will you become.

Life is not merely a matter of holding and playing a good hand as you would hope to do in a card game. What you start with isn't up to you. Talent is God given. Life is playing the hand you've been given well. This is determined by your choices.

This will help you to steer yourself in the right direction, and make right choices that will empower you to become a talent-plus person, build upon the foundation of your abilities, and live your life to its fullest potential.

Talent + Right Choices = A Talent-Plus Person

You Can Do It!
