Choice of Making Choices

John C. Maxwell said, "Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make, makes you."
Stepping into a Fabulous New Year of 2024, out of many promises I have committed to myself, one that I would like to start the new year with is that instead of reflecting on the choices I have made in my life, I choose to reflect on:
1. The process of making those choices (this process can reveal a lot about my pattern of making those choices)
2. How I reacted and responded to those choices, and
3. How they have shaped me as a person!
When something good or bad happens to us, we typically have three fundamental reactions:?
1.???? We can let it define us
2.???? We let it destroy us
3.???? We can let it strengthen us
As we get ready and excited to navigate through the new year for personal accomplishments, suggest seeing this TED TALK by sociologist and philosopher Renata Salecl.
The key takeaways from her talk are:
1.???? Our choices are influenced by our unconscious and our community.
2.???? We often make choices, thinking what other people would think about our choice.
3.???? We choose by looking at what other people are choosing.
4.???? We choose based on socially acceptable choices.
5.???? Choice is always linked to change.
Hence, in this new year, instead of just focusing on making choices, let us shift our gear to what changes we would like to embrace and why!
Here’s wishing all my friends & colleagues a prosperous, joyful and blessed NEW YEAR! ??!
