Chocolate and Cake...

Now we have your attention. Be honest, if we had entitled it New Labour Employment Law changes, would you have opened it anyway ?? :)

As you will be aware, there are a number of new changes to employment law that have been put forward by the Labour government after their win a few weeks ago. There also seems to be an extortionate number of articles and emails from companies floating around regarding the proposed changes to employment law and what you need to do NOW!

By way of an update, here’s what we do know: they agreed?to undertake a full and comprehensive consultation on the implementation of it's New Deal, however it’s important to remember that nothing as yet has been agreed!

Here are 3 things remember:

  1. Everything is pretty much in proposal stage at the moment and will likely need full consultation before it’s agreed and becomes legally binding.
  2. What we do know: They do want to move quickly on the Employment Rights Bill, removing the lower earnings limit on Statutory Sick Pay, and creating a Single Enforcement Body. Where required, these will be developed alongside engagement with experts and stakeholders, including employers and relevant professional bodies, so despite what you are being spammed with on email,?nothing new has yet been confirmed.
  3. Any changes will likely not be before October?time, so our advice would be to not start anything until we know more, by all means get things ready, dust off your contracts and pull out the policies and wait a bit.... we’ll keep you posted as and when we hear things that are relevant to you and your business.

In the meantime...

Here’s something you can do for your business that makes sense: sign up for our updates using this link? and go enjoy your summer!
