Chis
I have been thinking about language recently in light of watching "No Forests on Flat Earth" and reading comments that outline a much different world history on various Youtube channels, including QNFEE.
So if there are long histories of human migration into various parts of the world and huge differences in where the languages came from they should be distinctly different.
Xiaolin or Shaolin is the same word. Xi or Qi or Chi is the same word. Qi or Key is the same sound and in some sense the same idea.
This idea of central energy. Ki.
Or Spirit Ka.
Or knowing / sight: Ken.
These sounds are told to "those who learn language to communicate" as being of a spiritual nature.
Then what is a King? or a Chief? What is the Qin or Ching Dynasty?
So many words:
ki-d, chi-ld, chi-ldren, ki-nd, ki-nder, etc
What is a racial identity called Chi-nese?
The former capitol of China: Xian?
simple words: chip.
Computer chip.
have no real connection with an idea other than another way to include chi with other symbols and point it at an object like they are significant to each other.
It is made up.
In a store yesterday I encountered a "normal" word that I had not seen "with my new eyes":
Chi-c-ken.
and today I saw a package with a word that is very common:
Cheese.
or is it Chis?
Does the word Cheese even have real meaning?
Is it just marketing jibberish?
I am very early on in this hobby of mine.
Best wishes

6 年It's a fascinating Hobby, Alan. Sometimes when we label something we stop thinking about it. Sometimes, labeling something helps us get a handle on an otherwise elusive or complex subject. In researching local history (Mamaroneck NY) I found it fascinating how the spelling of BOTH Indian and European names varied from document to document.
