Chinese hedge fund managers are rapidly rolling out products inspired by Bridgewater Associates’ “All Weather” strategy to meet rising demand for volatility-proof investments amid concerns over Donald Trump’s second US presidency, according to a Reuters report. Bridgewater’s “All Weather” strategy, a risk-balanced, multi-asset approach, gained popularity in China during Trump’s first term, delivering a 37% return last year and outperforming local competitors.
Following Trump’s re-election and renewed tariff threats, investor interest has surged, with billions flowing into Bridgewater’s onshore funds. As the firm restricts new investments, domestic hedge funds like SHQX Asset Management and Shanghai Luoshu Investment Co have launched similar offerings to capitalize on the trend. Global player Man Group is also entering the market with its AHL TargetRisk strategy, based on risk-parity principles.
