Having lived in Shanghai for more than 15 years, I am always impressed by the multitude of Mexican restaurants offering delicious, authentic food and drinks—complete with Mexican chefs, service staff, and patrons. Yes, Mexican gastronomy and drinks in Shanghai! How can this be, you might ask? Simple: Mexico and much of South America are deeply connected to China.
These connections extend far beyond cuisine, reflecting an ever-strengthening economic, political, and cultural relationship between China and Latin America. This dynamic is reshaping the global geopolitical landscape, challenging traditional spheres of influence, particularly that of the United States.
