China’s new energy grid connection and consumption 2023 released: The National New Energy Consumption Monitoring and Early Warning Center released the national new energy grid connection and consumption report for 2023. Here are the details for the months from January to December 2023:
·??????? The photovoltaic power generation utilization rate stood at 98%
·??????? The photovoltaic power generation utilization rate in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guangxi and other places remained at 100%
·??????? Tibet’s photovoltaic utilization rate was 78%; and only 75.2% in December

Jinchen Solar subsidiary to produce PV laminators: Chinese production equipment supplier Jinchen Solar announced, via WeChat, that its subsidiary, Qinhuangdao Jinyu Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd held a grand start-up ceremony. Part of the billion-level photovoltaic equipment industry in Qinhuangdao City, the focus of this company is to produce new generation energy-saving, efficient, and fully automatic photovoltaic laminators. With an investment of RMB 500 million ($70.3 million) and spread across 107 acres, the facility is envisioned to produce 800 photovoltaic laminators, with an annual output value of up to RMB 2 billion ($0.28 billion).

JA Solar, Tongwei and Jinergy win CR Power n-type module bid: Wind and hydropower plant operator China Resources Power Holdings Company Limited (CR Power) announced the bid results for its centralized procurement of photovoltaic module towards the first batch of PV projects in 2024. The bidding, which was divided into three sections, was made for a procurement of 1.51 GW of n-type modules. Here are the results:
·??????? Bid 1: This bid was for a total capacity of 610 MWp n-type TOPCon monocrystalline bifacial double-glass photovoltaic modules. And the winner is JA Solar with a bid price of RMB 0.85 /W ($0.12 /W).
·??????? Bid 2: This bid was for a total capacity of 600 MWp n-type bifacial monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules. And the winner is Tongwei Solar with a bid price of RMB 0.851 /W ($0.12/W).
·??????? Bid 3: This bid was for a total capacity of 300 MWp n-type bifacial monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules. And the winner is Jinergy with a bid price of RMB 0.862 /W ($0.12/W).

Huasun makes first HJT modules shipment to India: Chinese solar panel manufacturer HUASUN HJT said, via WeChat, it has shipped over 10 MW of Huasun 700 W+ modules to India. The product that was shipped is G12-132 version, and is considered the star product among Huasun’s HJT modules. With a maximum power of 750.54 W, these modules have a conversion efficiency of 24.16%.

Supply / Liquid Cooling ESS
JinkoSolar to supply 100MWh liquid cooling ESS to Jiande power station: Module supplier Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. announced that it will be providing 100MWh liquid cooling ESS, SunTera, to 50MW/100 MW grid-side energy storage power station, located in Jiande, Zhejiang. With safety being the most important aspect of SunTera, this liquid cooling system helps control the differences between the batteries in the cabinets within 2.5 degrees celsius. This in turn increases the life of the system and the available energy capacity. This power station, a collaboration between Zhejiang Provincial Energy Bureau and China State Power Grid Corporation, will mark the successful application of the cutting-edge technology of liquid cooling in energy storage engineering, which is expected to promote local energy security and stability. Meanwhile, JinkoSolar General Manager, Energy Storage Business Kevin Liang, in an interview with TaiyangNews, said that for Jinko, the energy storage business has a new strategical focus, which offers new opportunities for growth since it contributes significantly to sustainability of renewable energy (see JinkoSolar General Manager Kevin Liang in Talks With TaiyangNews)?
Repurchase of Shares
Canadian Solar to repurchase company shares: Canada headquartered Chinese solar power company, Canadian Solar Inc. , announced its proposal to repurchase its company’s shares. The total amount of repurchase funds shall not be less than RMB 500 million ($70.27 million) (inclusive) and shall not exceed RMB 1 billion ($0.14 billion) (inclusive). The company also added that the upper limit of the share repurchase price will not be higher than 150% of the average trading price of the company's stock in the 30 trading days before the company's board of directors considers and approves the repurchase plan resolution (specifically, it shall be subject to the repurchase plan reviewed and approved by the board of directors). The repurchased shares will be used for equity incentives at an appropriate time in the future, and/or employee stock ownership plan.
LONGi to repurchase company shares: Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company, LONGi Solar , said in an announcement that it plans to use its own funds to repurchase some of the company's issued ordinary shares (A shares). They will be doing this via centralized bidding transactions through the Shanghai Stock Exchange system. The repurchase funds is expected to be not less than RMB 300 million ($42.18 million) (inclusive) and not more than RMB 600 million ($84.36 million) (inclusive). The company also added that the upper limit of the share repurchase price shall not be higher than 150% of the average trading price of the company's stock in the 30 trading days before the company's board of directors considers and approves the repurchase plan resolution. This repurchase is being planned based on the confidence of the company’s growth and development in the future, and also to safeguard the interest of the investors and build investor confidence.

UL Solutions’ IEC certification for Jolywood: n-type solar module manufacturer Jolywood announced that its QIHF2 – Polymeric Frontsheets and Backsheets for Photovoltaic Modules have been issued IEC 62788-2-1:2023 certification by UL Solutions, an international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification agency. The company said that it is for the first time that UL Solutions has enabled a new product category number - QIHF2 – while issuing the certification. Meanwhile, a month ago at TaiyangNews annual flagship event: Virtual Conference on High Efficiency Solar Technologies – Today, Tomorrow and Beyond – Part 2, Jolywood Solar’s Senior R&D Director Keng Siew Chan discussed efficiency improvement technology of industrial production for TOPCon solar cells within the C-Chinese company that’s known as a pioneer and very early adopter of n-type technology (see Keng Siew Chan, Jolywood: Study on Efficiency Improvement Technology)
Haitai Solar PV Testing Center now CNAS certified: PV module manufacturer Haitai Solar said via WeChat that its Photovoltaic Testing Center has obtained the CNAS accreditation qualification certificate (certificate number: L20062), issued by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment. With this, the company now enters the ranks of nationally accredited laboratories. This certification endorses Haitai Solar’s technical service capabilities to conduct testing in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation standards. The test reports issued by CNAS laboratories can now be mutually recognized by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) and Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC).
Chuzhou Jietai Testing Center wins CNAS lab certification: Over a WeChat communication, high-tech and innovative solar technology enterprise, Jietai New Energy Technology, said that its Chuzhou Testing Center has won the laboratory accreditation certificate, issued by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS). This certification indicates that Chuzhou Jietai Testing Center has now been recognized at national and international level for its testing capabilities. Its test reports will now have international authority and global credibility, and will be recognized in over 100 countries and regions around the world.
Carbon Park
Beijing Energy Technology and Microquanta get together for low-carbon park: Perovskite photovoltaic technology company, Microquanta, said via WeChat that it has partnered with ecological development solutions supplier, Beijing Energy Technology, to develop a perovskite low-carbon park, which was officially put into operation recently. The company said that it was for the first time that perovskite has been integrated into outdoor multi-functional photovoltaic products such as street lamps, floor tiles, and benches. This low carbon park is a combination of innovation in technology, product, and application, thus providing new photovoltaic ideas and solutions for urban energy transformation, Microquanta added.
