Henan expects renewable power capacity to touch 55 GW:?Local media reported that Henan province has released its 14th?five-year development plan for new energy and renewable energy. As per the report, by 2025, the province targets to achieve 55 GW renewable power capacity, or 40% of total power capacity in the province, and 100 billion kWh/year renewable power generation. The volume of increase in renewable power generation will lead to about 50% increment in the of total power generation volume.
Guangdong province announces plans for multiple GW of solar plants:?With a view to promote high energy development in the province, Guangdong has announced its plans to put about 12 GW solar power plants into operation, local media reports said. The province also said that it will continue to grow the solar sector, and among other initiatives will lend support to photovoltaic equipment, inverters; and focus on production of high-efficiency and low-cost crystalline silicon solar cells.

Seraphim PV module facility begins construction:?Solar cell and module maker Seraphim Solar said via WeChat that construction has begun for its photovoltaic module facility in Susong County. The total investment is about RMB 6.3 billion ($0.89 billion) and will be constructed in three phases. The facility will have a 10 GW photovoltaic module production line and a 20 GW carbon steel frame production line. Once the facility is put into operation, the sales revenue will be over RMB 2 billion ($0.28 billion) in the first year, over RMB 4 billion ($0.57 billion) in the second year, and RMB 8 billion ($1.13 billion) in the third year and thereafter.
Zhengqi Holdings 20 GW facility in Anhui begins construction:?Investment holding group Zhengqi Holdings said via WeChat that the construction of its 20 GW high-efficiency n-type solar cell facility in Ma’anshan City, Anhui, has begun. The facility will be built in three phases and the first phase will be that of 5 GW. The investment for the first phase will be about RMB 2.5 billion and is expected to be completed and put into operation within this year. JA Solar 10 GW module facility put into operation:?Through a WeChat communication, solar PV panel manufacturer said that its 10 GW solar cell module facility in Xingtai has been put into operation. The construction began in September 2022 and within a period of 190 days, produced its first module. Now, JA Solar’s module production capacity in the Xingtai Economic Development Zone has touched 12.5 GW, and the total annual output value of the photovoltaic industry chain is expected to exceed RMB 26 billion ($3.6 billion).
Tongwei Yancheng facility produces first module:?Over a WeChat communication, integrated solar PV manufacturer from China, Tongwei Solar said that its Yancheng PV module facility has produced its first module. Superimposed with Tongwei Solar’s high-efficiency TNC technology, this photovoltaic module is a large rectangular silicon wafer that has high power output, high bifacial gain, lower power attenuation, and better temperature coefficient.
DMEGC to raise RMB 3.2 billion for production expansion:?Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer from China DMEGC Solar announced that it will be raising about RMB 3.2 billion ($0.45 billion) through the issue of convertible corporate bonds. The raised funds will then be used to build a 12 GW high-efficiency cell facility, and also towards a 5 GW production line for a module facility with an annual output of 10 GW, and towards working capital. The total investment for the 12 GW cell facility is supposed to be about RMB 3.5 billion ($0.49 billion), out of which RMB 2 billion ($0.28 billion) will be availed through the raised funds.

TCL Zhonghuan 6 GW TOPCon cell facility commissioned:?Leading solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan New Energy Technology’s 6 GW TOPCon solar cell facility in Fengtai has been commissioned, local media outlets reported. With this, the company completes the construction of both the phases – the first being a 2 GW solar module facility; and the second phase being a 6 GW TOPCon solar cell facility. Once the facility is put into operation, the total investment will be about RMB 3.2 billion ($0.45 billion) and the annual production value is expected to be about RMB 8 billion ($1.1 billion).
Astronergy Haining TOPCon facility produces first module:?PV module manufacturer Astronergy Solar said via WeChat that its n-type TOPCon 8 GW cell and 12 GW module facility in Haining, which is currently in the fourth phase, has produced its first module. Haining base is considered to be Astronergy’s largest base and has achieved 17 GW cell production and 24 GW module production capacity till now. Adopting TOPCon 3.0, Astronergy Haining Phase IV plans to achieve production of the first line by 25 June this year.
Lingda to invest RMB 9.15 billion in PV cell facility:?Solar PV power generation firm Lingda Group Co., Ltd ?announced?that the company, along with Tongling Shizishan High-tech Zone Management, will be jointly investing in a 20 GW high-efficiency photovoltaic cell facility in Shizishan High-tech Zone. Lingda will be investing RMB 9.15 billion ($1.29 billion) and will be holding 80% of the equity. The facility will be built in two phases – the first phase will be that of a 10 GW-Topcon cell facility; while the second phase will see the construction of a 5 GW-Topcon cell facility and a 5 GW HJT cell facility.

Boamax to build HJT cell and module facility in Huaiyuan:?CNC sheet metal technology company Suzhou Suzhou Boamax Technologies Group Co., Ltd. Technologies Group said via a WeChat communication that it plans to invest RMB 5.5 billion ($0.77 billion) in a 6 GW heterojunction photovoltaic cell production facility, and a 6 GW photovoltaic modules facility in Huaiyuan County. The construction will take place in two phases – the first phase will be a 2 GW cell and 2 GW module facility, and the second phase will be a 4 GW cell and a 4 GW module facility. Guorun Energy to build cell and module fabs:?Private enterprise investment group in Shandong, Guorun Energy, said via WeChat that it has signed a manufacturing facility deal with Hohhot city. With this, Guorun Energy will be building a 3 GW high-efficiency HJT cell facility in the Economic and Technological Development Zone, and a 4 GW high-efficiency module facility in its northern headquarters.

Zhonghuan to launch joint venture in Saudi Arabia:?Leading solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan?announced?that, in association with Vision Industries Company, it will be launching a solar wafer plant in Saudi Arabia. The new company will be responsible for the production, manufacture and sales of solar wafers. The sales area will be mainly in and around Middle East and Africa.
Production / Crystal Rods
Trina to invest in 25 GW monocrystalline rod production facility:?Chinese solar module manufacturer 天åˆå…‰èƒ½ ?announced?that it plans to build a 25 GW single crystal rods and supporting facility in Shifang Economic Development Zone, Sichuan. The total investment for this facility will be about RMB 10.7 billion ($1.51 billion) and the construction period is expected to be about 12 months, which will be determined according to the agreement arrangement and the actual situation.
Production / Inverters & Battery Energy Storage
GoodWe New Energy Industrial Park begins construction: Solar inverter manufacturer GoodWe has begun the construction of the first phase of its New Energy facility in Guangde, local media reported. Spread across 229.5 mu, the facility in the first phase will have an annual output of 20 GW solar inverters and an annual energy storage cell production capacity of 2.7 GWh. Supply / Modules
CTGR releases 6.2 GW module tendering results:?Releasing the winners for its 6.2 GW module tender, Chinese government owned hydropower giant China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) said that:
- JA Solar has won the bid for 422 MW Wushan facility, which needs 550Wp/555Wp p-type mono-facial modules. The bidding price JA Solar quoted was RMB 1.5/W ($0.21/W)
- JinkoSolar has won the bid for 384.6 MW Chizhou facility which requires 560/565W n-type bi-facial modules. The bidding price JinkoSolar quoted was RMB 1.6/W ($0.23/W)
The other companies that won capacities in the bid include Tongwei, Risen and LONGi. In January, China Three Gorges Group had started the construction of its 16 GW large power generation project in Kubuqi desert, Inner Mongolia (see?World’s ‘Largest’ Wind & Solar PV Project Coming Up In China)
Supply / PV Production Equipment
Cloud Live Technology to buy RMB 440 million worth PV equipment:?Photovoltaic cells and modules seller Cloud Live Technology Group?announced?that its holding subsidiary Zhongke Gaoyou signed purchase deals with couple of manufacturers. As per the deal, Zhongke Gaoyou plans to buy high-efficiency photovoltaic cell production equipment from about six companies – S.C New Energy Technology; Dongguan Kelongwei Automation Equipment; Kzone; Pudat Semiconductor Equipment (Xuzhou); Songyu Technology; and Hymson. The transaction value will be about RMB 444 million ($62.7 million). All the equipment purchased will be used in the first-phase of Zhongke Gaoyou’s high-efficiency photovoltaic cell facility.
Autowell Technology wins JinkoSolar welding equipment bid:?Automation equipment manufacturer Autowell Technology?announced?it has signed an equipment deal with module supplier JinkoSolar. With this, Autowell will be selling all-in-one marking and welding machines to JinkoSolar worth RMB 260 million ($36.77 million) (tax included). The machines for cell connection in module assembly will be delivered in batches as per the contract requirements. Whether this transaction will affect Autowell’s 2023 performance is yet to be seen as the revenue will be recognized only after the acceptance of the equipment.
PDT receives purchase & prototype orders for 40 wet processing tools:?Manufacturer of productivity-driven equipment applied in semiconductor and solar power businesses, Productive Technologies Company Limited (PDT),?announced?that it has received purchase orders and prototype orders for 40 sets of wet processing equipment for solar cell manufacturing. This has come from different customers, and about 23 of them are based on double-layer chain cleaning equipment platform (NIAK4), their latest product development platform. NIAK4 is upgraded based on the RENA modular chain cleaning equipment platform NIAK and is compatible with conventional pickling process, as well as various processes such as low-temperature acid etching process and high-temperature alkali polishing process based on the authorized patented single-side floating process. The revenue from these purchases is yet to be disclosed. In Aug. 2022,?Germany based manufacturer of wet chemical surface treatment equipment maker RENA Technologies sold its Chinese solar business to PDT, which?now develops and manufactures the RENA developed solar wet chemical equipment for Chinese companies exclusively, while RENA will continue to serve the global solar market outside of China with its solar wet benches?(see?RENA Technologies Offloads Chinese Solar Business).

DAS Solar announces latest n-type product prices:?Over WeChat, Chinese solar PV module and cell supplier DAS SOLAR announced the price of its n-type products. Here are the details:

- The 182 bifacial monocrystalline n-type cells (with a mainstream efficiency ≥ 25.3%) is now priced at RMB 1.05/W ($0.131/W), which is RMB 0.15/W ($ 0.023/W) lower than the previous announcement, a drop of 12.50% (14.94%)
- The 182 bifacial double-glass n-type modules (with a mainstream power ≥ 580W) is now priced at RMB 1.75/W ($0.218/W), which is RMB 0.20/W ($ 0.032/W) lower than the previous price (April 30), a drop of 10.26% (12.80%)
The company added that it is worth noting that the mainstream power of the 182 bifacial double-glass n-type modules in April was labelled as not less than 575 W. LONGi drops silicon wafer prices by 30%:?Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi Solar has announced a severe cut for its silicon wafer prices. Here are the details:
- p-type M10 150μm Mono Wafer(182/247mm)is now priced at RMB 4.36 ($0.62), a 32% drop of RMB 1.94 ($0.25) from the last announced price RMB 6.3 ($0.89)
- p-type M6 150μm Mono Wafer(166/223mm)is now priced at RMB 3.81 ($0.54), a 30% drop of RMB 1.63 ($0.23) from the last announced price of RMB 5.44 ($0.77)

TCL Zhonghuan slashes silicon wafers prices:?Solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan is next in line to cut down silicon wafer prices. Here are the details:
- P-type 150μm silicon wafers 182, 210, and 218.2 are now priced at RMB 3.80 ($0.477) /pc, RMB 5.35 ($0.672) /pc, and RMB 5.78 ($0.725) /pc, respectively. Compared with the last announcement, there is a drop of 24%, 16.41% and 16.35%, respectively.
- N-type 130μm silicon wafers 182 and 210 are now priced at RMB 3.87 ($0.486) /pc and RMB 5.45 ($0.686) /pc, respectively. Compared with the previous announcement, there is a drop of 23.97% and 16.41%, respectively.
- N-type 110μm silicon wafers 182 and 210 are now priced at RMB 3.72 ($0.466) /pc and RMB 5.23 ($0.657) /pc, respectively. Compared with the previous quotation, there is a drop of 23.93% and 16.45%, respectively.
Last week, LONGi had also announced drastic cuts in silicon wafer prices (see?China Solar PV News Snippets). Longi’s price cut was a reaction to an earlier price decrease of Zhonghuan (see?Also Wafer Prices Going Downhill). Now Zhonghuan has brought down prices for 182 mm wafer below the 4 RMB mark. Partnership / PV Cleaning Robots
Sunpure Technology joins hands with Samsung C&T:?High-tech innovative enterprise specializing in PV cleaning robots SUNPURE TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD. said via WeChat that it has signed a contract with Samsung C&T, a housing construction company. With this, Sunpure will be suppling photovoltaic cleaning robots to the largest photovoltaic power station in Qatar – the Industrial City Solar Energy Project. The total capacity of the power station is 875 MW, and is expected to enter operation in 2024. This is supposed to be the first new power station in Qatar to be equipped with cleaning robots, thus maintain a standard.
Acquisition
Fusion Materials acquires stake in Linton Materials:?Solar metallization supplier?Fusion Materials?announced?that it will be acquiring the controlling stake in Linton Materials, an electronic-grade silver powder research, development and production company. By investing RMB 120 million ($16.9 million) and acquiring a 69.36% stake, Linton Materials becomes a subsidiary of Fusion. This move is aligned to the company’s business strategy of increasing investment in powder research and development and mass production. The company also plans to expand in the fields of photovoltaic new energy and semiconductor electronics, and this acquisition will help it reduce the cost of raw materials.
IPO
Sinopont to raise RMB 1.3 billion:?Solar encapsulant films producer from China Sinopont’s IPO application has been accepted. The company will be now raise about RMB 1.8 billion by issuing 75 million shares, local media reports said. The raised finds will be invested in 300 million square meters of film production and towards working capital.
