Jieyuan New Energy to build cell and module factories:?Research and developer of emerging energy technologies Jieyuan New Energy Group said via WeChat that it has signed a deal with Chayou Middle Banner Committee for a high-efficiency crystalline silicon 10 GW photovoltaic cells and 10 GW photovoltaic module facility. The signing took place at a symposium held by Chayou Middle Banner Committee and Linyuan Group.

Shangji Automation to invest RMB 5 billion on module facilities:?PV production equipment maker and mono-wafer company Shangji Automation?announced?the company’s plans to build photovoltaic module facilities with an annual output of 16 GW in Jiangyin Lingang Economic Development Zone. With an investment of about RMB 5 billion ($0.73 billion), the facility will be built in two phases. In the first phase, a 5 GW photovoltaic module facility will be built and put into operation by the third quarter of 2023. The second phase will see a 11 GW photovoltaic module facility coming up. However, the construction date is yet to be disclosed.

Solar Potential Energy to build 10.8 GW HJT stacked cell and module facility:?In a WeChat communication, electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing company Solar Potential Energy New Energy said that it has signed an agreement with Lujiang County of Hefei City to build a 10.8 GW heterojunction stacked cells and modules facility. A company that supplies photovoltaic high-efficiency heterojunction full-spectrum laminated cells and modules and also provides low-cost green energy solutions for all-weather and all-scenario, Solar Potential Energy New Energy said that the investment on the facility is about RMB 7.5 billion ($1.09 billion) and will be built in two phases. Once it is completed, the annual output value is expected to be about RMB 16.5 billion ($2.4 billion).

Production / Perovskite

Xinlei Semiconductor invests in 100 MW perovskite module facility:?Producer and seller of optoelectronic devices Xinlei Semiconductor announced via WeChat that it will soon be building a 100 MW perovskite module facility in Qiqihar. With an investment of RMB 1.9 billion ($0.28 billion) and spread across 60,000 square meters in Beiyuan Industrial Park, the facility will be built in 3 phases: construction of diamond production equipment manufacturing; diamond production and processing; and 100 MW perovskite photovoltaic module production and processing. On completion, the annual output value is expected to be over RMB 2.6 billion ($0.38 billion).?

Golden Stone & Zhongneng Optoelectronics join hands:?Modern circular economy enterprise, Golden Stone Group, and optoelectronic devices seller, Zhongneng Optoelectronics have signed an agreement for a domestic third-generation perovskite production line, local media reports said. They have also reached an agreement for 60 production lines in the next three years. The total value of the perovskite production line will be about RMB 12 billion ($1.7 billion). With Zhongneng Optoelectronics’ third-generation perovskite production line, and with the gradual delivery of the other production lines, Golden Stone Group will be implementing five major perovskite production bases in the country. This will in turn lead the Group to build a leading matrix of domestic perovskite production, and provide a solid supply of perovskite solar thin film photovoltaic modules in the future.

Construction begins for Sichuan Lihao Semiconductor Yujing facility: Electronic special materials manufacturer, Sichuan Lihao Semiconductor, said over WeChat that the phase I of its facility in Yujing Zone has begun construction. With an investment of RMB 11 billion ($1.6 billion), the facility will have an annual output of 100,000 tons of photovoltaic-grade high-purity crystalline silicon and 2,000 tons of electronic-grade high-purity crystalline silicon. The construction is expected to be completed by August 2024. Once completed, the output value from the facility is expected to be RMB 20 billion ($2.9 billion).

Production / Financing

TCL Zhonghuan to issue RMB 13.8 billion convertible bonds:?In an?announcement, leading solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan shared its plans to issue convertible bonds to raise about RMB 13.8 billion ($2.01 billion). This fund will be used towards building a 35 GW high-purity solar ultra-thin monocrystalline silicon wafers factory and a 25 GW n-type TOPCon high-efficiency solar cell production facility. The 35 GW wafer fab will be built in 18 months with an investment of RMB 3.6 billion ($0.52 billion), and will adopt international advanced diamond wire slicing technology. The 25 GW cell fab will be built in 2 years with an investment of RMB 10.6 billion ($1.5 billion). Recently, TCL Zhonghuan released its 2022 performance report, showing a profit growth of 63% in 2022 (see?China PV News Snippets).

Tongwei & Libra partner for 100 MW PV shingled module supply:?Over WeChat, integrated solar PV manufacturer Tongwei Solar said it has signed a 100 MW high-efficiency module supply agreement with Libra Energy. With this deal, Tongwei will help Libra Energy to widen its market and provide sustainable energy to more users. In March 2023, Tongwei announced winning a large modules orders of 2.3 GW (see?China PV News Snippets). Tongwei recently presented an overview on its latest module technology innovations at a TaiyangNews event, which can be viewed?here.

Chint Astronergy and Romania EXIMPROD sign 200 MW n-type TOPCon module order:?PV power station developer and PV module producer CHINT Solar announced via WeChat that it has signed a 200 MW n-type TOPCon deal with Romanian EXIMPROD Group, who had come visiting Astronergy Haining headquarters. This further strengthens the presence of Astronergy’s n-type TOPCon modules in the European market. In March 2023, Astronery had delivered 154.4 MW photovoltaic modules to the D?llen Power Station in Brandenburg, Germany (see?China PV News Snippets). JinkoSolar touches 4 GW cumulative module orders in the UAE:?Module supplier, JinkoSolar announced that it has achieved a milestone of 4GW cumulative module orders in the UAE. The company now looks forward to continuing the relationship and establishing much more in the future. Meanwhile, in the recently concluded TaiyangNews Conference on Solar and Sustainability, JinkoSolar spoke about its 12 MW pilot production line to recycle its solar modules (see?Roy Bi, JinkoSolar: Sustainable Modules Made By World Leading Solar Module Manufacturer)

Supply / PV Equipment

Solartron partners with Zhejiang Carbonview for PV packaging film equipment:?Film seller and producer, Solartron, said in an?announcement?that it plans to buy photovoltaic packaging film equipment with an annual output of 20 million square meters from PV equipment manufacturer, Zhejiang Carbonview Technology. The transaction amount is about RMB 25.7 million ($3.7 million), out of which the equipment transaction is for RMB 18.3 million ($2.6 million) (tax included), and the plant rent is for RMB 7.3 million ($1.06 million) (tax included). The company will be using its own funds for this transaction and will be doing it through a wholly-owned subsidiary (which it will establish). It also will be leasing its factory buildings for a period of one year.

Hunan Red Sun dry-cleaning equipment delivered:?New energy product research and development company Hunan Red Sun said via WeChat that the dry-cleaning equipment it has developed has been delivered to the customer site. The equipment is highly compatible and can be used for cleaning silicon nitride and amorphous silicon deposited on graphite boats, and also for cleaning LPCVD quartz parts. The equipment adopts a mature tubular equipment structure that ensure excellent cleaning in short amount of time, unlike the conventional wet cleaning methods, where the process is slow and long. Touted to be the first photovoltaic dry-cleaning equipment in China, the company said that this equipment is likely to bring revolutionary changes to the industry’s silicon wafer carrier cleaning methods. In January this year, Hunan Red Sun had won a bid for its PECVD equipment (see?China PV News Snippets).

Supply / PV Glass

Flat Glass & Chint Solar come together for PV rolling glass:?Chinese supplier of solar PV glass, Flat Glass, announced the signing of a sales agreement with PV power station developer and PV module producer Chint Solar and its subsidiaries. As per the agreement, Chint Solar will buy about 378 million square meters of photovoltaic rolled glass from Flat Glass Group and its subsidiaries from July 2023 to December 2025. As per the recent market price, the estimated sales amount will be about RMB 8.05 billion ($1.17 billion). Last month, Flat Glass had shared plans to invest in 1 GW CdTe thin-film cell facility (see?China PV News Snippets).

Prices / Silicon Wafers

TCL Zhonghuan lowers silicon wafer prices:?Announcing the latest silicon wafer prices, leading solar wafer supplier TCL Zhonghuan said:

  • P-type 150μm silicon wafers 182, 210, and 218.2 are now at RMB 6.40 ($0.824) /pc, RMB 8.05 ($1.036) /pc, and RMB 8.69 ($1.118) /pc, respectively. Compared with the previous revision, there is a drop of -2.89% (-4.04%), 1.83% (0.77%) and 1.81% (0.80%), respectively.
  • N-type 130μm silicon wafers 182 and 210 are now at RMB 6.52 ($0.838) /pc and RMB 8.20 ($1.055) /pc, respectively. Compared with the previous revision, there is a drop of -2.03% (-2.95%) and 1.80% (0.75%), respectively.
  • N-type 110μm silicon wafers 182 and 210 are now at RMB 6.26 ($0.805) /pc and RMB 7.87 ($1.013) /pc, respectively. Compared with the previous revision, there is a drop of -1.95% (-3.07%) and 1.87% (0.78%), respectively.

Many LONGi cells among Highest Efficient Solar Cells of China in 2022:?The Photovoltaic Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society (CPVS) released the 2022 China Solar Cell Highest Efficiency results at the 18th China Renewable Energy Academic Conference, and over half of the cell efficiencies selected were that of LONGi’s. The 2022 Solar Cell China Highest Efficiency includes 15 cell efficiencies of which 7 belong to LONGi, including LONGi Green Energy n-HJT battery 26.81%; p-HJT battery 26.56%; perovskite/crystalline silicon stacked two-terminal battery 29.55%; perovskite/crystalline silicon stacked four-terminal battery 25.9%. Aiko Solar ABC module bags Red Dot Award:?Over a WeChat communication, Chinese solar cell producer Aiko Solar announced that its ABC module has won the prestigious German Red Dot Product Design Award 2023, becoming the world’s first XBC photovoltaic module to do so. The module, apart from its innovative design and excellent product performance, is also known for functionality, durability, intuitiveness and ease of use, quality, and environmental protection, according to company. Tongwei releases Q1 2023 operating data:?Disclosing the main operating data from January to March 2023, Chinese integrated module manufacturer?Tongwei Solar said that its operating income is about RMB 35-36 billion ($5.08-$5.23 billion), an increase of 42-46% year-on-year. The net profit is at RMB 8.3-8.7 billion ($1.2-$1.26 billion), a rise of about 60-68% year-on-year. Rapid growth of the photovoltaic industry led to increased sale of Tongwei’s main products, thus leading to this growth in performance. DMEGC net profit likely to rise by 50-70% in Q1/2023:?Vertically integrated solar module manufacturer, DMEGC,?announced?that in the first quarter of 2023, the Chinese module maker expects a net profit attributable to the parent company of RMB 548 million to RMB 620 million ($79.7 million to $90.2 million), a year-on-year increase of 49.8% to 69.5%. Achieving considerably large rise in module shipments and favorable global market demands have enabled the company to anticipate this kind of growth. In December 2022, DMEGC had announced plans to invest in a 20 GW n-type cell facility to built in 3 phases (see?China PV News Snippets).

Metron New Materials discloses Q1/2023 performance forecast:?Disclosing?its performance forecast for the first quarter of 2023, electroplated diamond wire producer Metron New Materials said that it expects to achieve a net profit of about RMB 370 million to 400 million ($53.8 million to $58.2 million), a year-on-year increase of 29.9% to 40.5%. During the reporting period, the sale of electroplated diamond wire exceeded 25 million kilometers (including about 2 million kilometers of tungsten diamond wire). The total sales volume rose by over 50% compared with the same period last year, the company added.

Gaoce Technology releases 2022 annual report:?Releasing its?annual report?for 2022,?Gaoce Technology said that it has achieved an operating income of RMB 3.5 billion ($0.51 billion), a year-on-year increase of 127.9%; and a net profit of RMB 789 million ($114.7 million), a year-on-year increase of 356.6%. During the reporting period, the company had signed large equipment sales orders with leading photovoltaic companies, and its photovoltaic cutting equipment products also achieved a revenue of RMB 1.4 billion ($0.2 billion), a year-on-year increase of 50.41%. These factors enabled the company to register this kind of a growth.
