[Client Win] MONOTYPE IMAGING HOLDINGS INC.: Website localization for China
Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc., founded in 1887, is a global leader that specializes in digital typesetting and typeface design for use with consumer electronics devices. The company developed many of the most widely used typeface designs, including Times New Roman, Gill Sans, Arial, Bembo and Albertus. With the Chinese market gaining increasing prominence in Monotype's global strategy, they have entrusted Fabernovel with creating their China website.
The objective of this initiative is to align the website with the Chinese user experience, while also taking into account the cultural nuances and preferences of the Chinese audience. At Fabernovel, we firmly believe that in terms of UX methodology, the website should place a high priority on achieving fast loading times, given that Chinese users highly value speed. Additionally, mobile optimization is essential, as China is a mobile first country. Including familiar payment methods such as Alipay and WeChat Pay is a crucial component in facilitating successful conversions. In terms of UI, it is essential to employ visually appealing, intuitive layouts with a strong emphasis on clean and well-organized design.

FAB STAGE TALK: Exploring the post-pandemic new luxury dynamic in China
On October 20th, Fabernovel organized a team sharing to onboard the team with the latest insights on the Chinese outbound travelers and the luxury consumption force.?
After 15 years of continuous sustained growth, China’s economy is under high economic pressure and facing new challenges. Yet outbound travel shows signs of recovery during the 2023 Golden Week. This shift is influencing the landscape of luxury consumption.?
China’s high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) with investable net assets above CNY 6 million will keep leading the heavy luxury consumption, while the middle class shows caution in spending by turning to pre-owned luxury or simply delaying their luxury consumption for better deals.
After the pandemic, reshored luxury consumption will unavoidably flow to outbound luxury destinations, Macau, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Europe being the top choices. Domestically, new shopping possibilities led by Hainan's duty-free expansion may impact Hong Kong, while second-tier cities are entering the luxury market.?
Luxury brands have exhibited early responses to those new dynamics, such as launching more VIC salons to target top clients and deploying the “one-customer” strategy to offer consistent global clienteling and integrate consumer data from domestic to overseas markets.
