China Exported more than 60GW of Solar Modules to Europe by August 2022
According to the statistics of Gessey PV Consulting, Chinese solar module manufacturers shipped more than 60GW of solar modules to Europe from January to August 2022. Since the severe energy crisis on the European continent, Europe has a huge demand for products from China. In the first quarter of 2022, China exported 18.1GW of solar modules to European developers, and 26.5GW in the second quarter of 2022. In July 2022, the export volume was about 9.1GW, while in August 2022, China exported 8.7GW of solar panels to Europe. The Ukraine war has led to the soaring prices of electricity and natural gas, which increased demand for renewable energy, and accelerated the solar deployment.
If Europe continues to purchase solar modules from China at an average capacity of 5GW per month, which means that the European continent will import more than 80GW of solar modules from China in 2022. It is estimated that the installed capacity of solar modules in Europe this year will increase significantly compared with the 32GW in 2021. According to the forecast of SolarPower Europe, the new PV installed capacity in Europe is expected to be 39-48GW this year, while the volume?of modules imported from China is far more than the predicted amount. The European PV market is booming.
