Children’s Harbor Partners with Community Foundation of Broward To Establish a Nonprofit Endowment Fund

Pembroke Pines, Florida (July 13, 2023) – Children's Harbor, Inc. , a nationally accredited nonprofit agency with a mission to provide a safe harbor and support to at-risk #children, #youth, and #families, keeping brothers and sisters together, strengthening families, and rebuilding lives, has partnered with Community Foundation of Broward to establish a Nonprofit Endowment Fund.

“This is a historic day for us,” Children’s Harbor President and CEO Tiffani Dhooge ?? Dhooge said. “We have officially launched an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Broward that will grow to become a sustainable source of support for the agency for many years to come.”

The Community Foundation of Broward Nonprofit Endowment Fund allows Children’s Harbor to take advantage of the Community Foundation’s diversified investment portfolio and financial expertise to ensure a dedicated and sustainable source of financial support. This partnership allows Children’s Harbor to focus on its critical mission by providing an annual, unrestricted grant to use at their discretion, while the Community Foundation handles tax reporting, audits and other financial management duties.

“By establishing an endowment at the Community Foundation of Broward, Children’s Harbor is building a reserve fund and a reliable stream of income to ensure its long-term sustainability for generations to come,” said Nancy Thies , Vice President of Philanthropic Services at the Community Foundation of Broward. “Their unwavering commitment to serving #teens and #youngadults in #Broward will forever be etched in the fabric of our community, ensuring brighter futures and a stronger foundation of support.”?

With the Endowment Fund, Children’s Harbor will establish a sustainable source of support that will help strengthen families who are struggling in the community while providing safe shelter and support to teens in foster care so that they may grow into healthy, educated and productive adults.?

Children’s Harbor provides nurturing, family group homes for teens in the foster care system on an eight-acre campus in City of Pembroke Pines . Here, brothers and sisters and teen mothers and their babies can stay together during a turbulent time in their young lives. Children’s Harbor also helps prevent child abuse through the Family Strengthening Program. Each year, 200 families across #BrowardCounty receive in-home counseling to improve #parenting and communication skills.
