Children always speak the truth

BAD TEACHERS

Now that I've got your attention…..

Let's face it. In today's world, good teachers are scarce. We've all felt at some point or the other that our teachers are lacking. No offence to all those heroes out there, but what I mean is that there just aren't enough of them. We need more ‘good’ teachers. We need teachers who understand us, and teach us the way they would want to be taught; teachers who have a passion for teaching, and more importantly a passion for learning; teachers who teach from the heart and not from a book.

A couple of years ago, I had a history teacher who made learning the next chapter about the National Movement feel like watching the next episode of ‘Riverdale’. I have a French teacher who makes me feel like I'm from Paris. I've had English teachers who teach the language through newspapers, movies and even music….. This is what is meant by a good teacher. Someone who, not only knows their subject inside out, but makes you want to, by triggering your imagination and your interest.

We need more people to join this noble profession and help shape the future, and we need everybody to realise how crucial the profession is. But all these fancy words said, how many times in a day do we appreciate these incredible super-humans? Not many. If we really want this profession, this art, to be valued, we are the ones who should value it. Thank your teacher today….and tomorrow…and the day after….........
