HOW THIS PAINTING DEVELOPED

Childhood is such an important time in our lives and something that has a very important effect on the way we develop and what shapes us into the adults we grow to be.

In my life those years scared me for life in many ways growing up in a very humble family with my gran mother and aunts and uncles in Colombia where I spend the first thirteen years of my life.

Having landed in prison for reacting to one of the main things that I detested while growing up (bullying) I found myself thinking about what I have done wrong and looking at ways to somehow spot the triggers and to use those signs as a warning to remove myself from any of those situations before relapsing and reacting to those angry feelings that clouded my thinking and got me where I was.

I looked into my childhood memories towards the end of my sentence and started writing my memoirs to be able to analyse and break down my pattern of behaviour and resolve those issues, from my earlier memories and stopped abruptly when I came to this happy pleasant memories that inspired this painting.

The memories went back a small group of neighbourhood kids walking outside Sevilla, my grandmothers town to a spring where there was always lots of small multicolour fishes and where I would spend hours catching the little creatures to put into a clear bag to take back home and have them as pets until, for some unknown reasons eventually all die.

The memory is still so vivid and calming that I was on almost a trance while producing it from my memories.
