A child in the road
It doesn't take a rocket scientist today to see that children today are faced with, exposed to and experience things in life that used to be reserved if you will for the adults of the world. But because of technology, the internet primarily our children are exposed to much.
In addition to exposure to pornography, graphic violence from movies and video games, drugs, alcoholism, sex trafficking, abuse, hunger just to name a few. Most children feel hopeless and the world as it is, doesn't offer any solutions.
As the Stewardship Director Nebraska for the Child Evangelism Fellowship I believe that we offer the answer as a ministry to these lost children. And that is to introduce the children to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to give them an opportunity to hear the truth and to give them an opportunity to make a profession of faith.
Children today are faced with so many of life's hard choices and experiences. It is a well known fact that by the time a child has reached the age of 13, that their moral compass has been set. In other words, what they believe in at that time is typically what they go to the grave with.
Also, 80% of today's children and families don't attend church on a regular basis, as compared to several generations ago when the opposite was true. Enter Child Evangelism Fellowship. Started in 1937 and based in Warrenton, Missouri, this international children's ministry has reached over 220 million children with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2016 20.4 million children heard the message and 8.5 million world wide made a profession of faith. So, the tide is turning, but with nearly 2 billion children world wide, it will take more.
Remember that Child I talked about in the beginning of this article? Well, you and I can make one of two choices. One is that we can stand by the side of the road and hope that nothing happens to that child. Life is whizzing by them like cars on a highway. It's not a matter of if something is going to happen to them. It is a matter of when. Or two, you can go out to that child, offer them your hand and bring them to the side of the road and tell them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Tell them the truth. Let them make a decision that will give them an eternal perspective.
Want to make a positive impact on children? The please reach out to me and let me tell you how. It's not as difficult as you think. We all have Time, Talents and Treasures given to us by God. It's up to us to be good Stewards.
I look forward to hearing from you all.
Blessings,
