If a child learns about what they LOVE, they learn easily.

Dr. Erica Warren talks to Dr. Aaron Ralby:

My take-aways:

Dr. Warren: You are teaching students to be "ACTIVE" learners. Not Passive. You are activating all aspects of the brain. So much of what is going on in education at the moment is teaching kids to be passive learners. It is getting in the way of kids being able to learn!

Dr. Ralby: There's a perception that you don't have to memorize anything. But you cannot use knowledge you don't have. You cannot know if this "thing" is called a MUG you cannot say the word "MUG." There is a knowledge requirement before you get to the skill requirement. You cannot acquire the skill until you have the knowledge. The student has to actively learn, to have retention of knowledge.

If we teach students when they are young to be active learners, we are setting them up for life!

How are teachers creating active learners today?
