A Child Of God
Yvonne C. Freeman
I'm a Bible Christian. An author, poet and song writer posting poetry from my books inspired by the written word of God
"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments." - 1 John 5:2
Are you a child of God? How do you know, did the bible tell you so? People go through life believing they are children of God and are not. Most know not who they worship. Everything you say does something and everything you do says something about you. Children of God are peacemakers loving one another and keeping God's commandments. You know you are a child of God when you keep the Sabbath Day which God proclaimed a sign between him and his children. It sets you apart from everyone else in the eyes of God.
"In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother." -1 John 3:10
As children of God we are far from perfect. The things you say and do say a lot about you. This suit of flesh wants what it wants, when it wants and how it wants. Tempted daily in this world of lies, greed and corruption we are reminded weekly to stop and rethink our actions when keeping the Sabbath Day on Saturday holy. If we slip and fall and don't repent God will chastise us as a reminder we are the children of God. It's proof he still loves us.
"If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits and live? - Hebrews 12:7-9
Sometimes we stray doing things our way thinking we are pleasing God anyway. Beware of wolves in sheeps clothing. Any deviation from what God had written for the edification of his children was created from man-made traditions. What you do is from the imagination of your heart and not what thus said the Lord. Try as you may to do things your way if not written in the bible it's a waste of your time. God doesn't respect disobedience.
"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." - Matthew 7:22-23
