JK Executive Strategies has partnered with the Villa of Hope in search of a Chief Financial Officer to join its team.

Under the general direction of the President/CEO and working in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO is responsible for the oversight of our client’s fiscal functions in accordance with GAAP issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and other regulatory and advisory organizations. This individual must possess a holistic understanding of the financial workings of a Not-for-Profit industry and apply that understanding to provide strategic financial leadership. A critical function of this position is to analyze and cultivate new sources of revenue.      

Position Summary

The CFO will be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in a fast-paced workplace while providing oversight to Finance and Billing. This position is a pivotal part of the Executive Leadership Team, guiding and executing crucial financial decisions. The CFO will work closely with the CEO to creatively design future growth opportunities, has a deep understanding of existing billing models and contracting, and is able to capitalize on opportunities in innovative models, including those under Value-Based Payment.   

A Successful candidate will display a deep understanding of strategy, a commitment to continually developing one’s own leadership skills and those of their team, superior skill in clearly and effectively communicating financial knowledge to non-financial colleagues and a demonstrated track record as a competent relationship builder who can partner with others to further our client’s mission and vision.

Responsibilities

·        Create long-term sustainable value of our clients, industry and community relationships.

·        Cultivate new sources of revenue, including MCO contracts, other strategic partnerships, potential M&A’s, while supporting and monitoring the implementation of these opportunities.

·        Demonstrate strong strategic financial leadership in evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning, introducing new programs and strategies, evaluating potential alliances, mergers and acquisitions, understanding the impact of new regulatory actions and solving budget variances through business strategy efforts.

·        Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency, effectiveness and succession planning of the group, with an emphasis on developing future leaders and attracting and retaining skilled, experienced and motivated individuals for all key management positions. 

·        Collaborate with Executive Leadership Team, the Management Team and Director of Finance to develop annual, Board approved budget and ensure timely, accurate and clearly communicated analysis of budget variances, financial results and financial trends to assist and inform the President/CEO, the Board and other senior leaders in performing their responsibilities.

·        Participate actively on relevant boards, committees and task forces and at external speaking engagements, conference panels and trainings to advance our Mission/Vision.

·        Provide high level oversight of day to day operations of Finance and Billing, ensuring effective fiscal, internal control and risk management systems, annual financial audits that result in an unqualified opinion with minimal management letter comments and availability of proper resources.

·        Optimize banking relationships and initiate effective strategies to enhance cash position, manage working capital line of credit and identify other financing instruments where appropriate.

·        Maintain high agency standards to satisfy criteria put forth by National Council on Accreditation and other licensing entities and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

·        Partner with Board of Directors and Executive Leader Team to develop, deliver and take the lead in executing our crisis communication plan.

·        Review and update risk management plan annually, provide recommendations to address relevant and emerging areas of risk and present observations to Audit Committee.

·        Support the work of the Finance Committee and attend Board and Committee meetings as needed.

·        Other duties as requested by the President/CEO.

Qualifications

·        Master’s Degree or equivalent experience and education required.

·        10+ year of experience in finance or related field. 5+ years of experience in senior level management.  

·        Familiarity with health or behavioral health fields; ability to provide easily accessible and highly effective technical assistance leading to transformation across the health and human services industry.

·        Solid understanding of best practices, change tools and resources to enhance programming and capacity to provide highest quality care for people we serve.

·        Solid understanding of social determinants of health/health equity, consensus building and facilitation skills; commitment to ongoing learning and development needed to keep pace with this rapidly evolving field.

·        Knowledgeable about trends in delivery of services within evolving health care environment.

·        Successful track record of building and leading an innovative and collaborative strategic plan. Understanding of current and evolving trends and best practices in the sector. Must be able to demonstrate effective change management and be able to navigate a large, multifaceted organization.

·        Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

·        Must be comfortable in a target-driven environment and work to overcome any barriers that would prevent targets being met.
