You might remember the painting "The Night Hawks" featured in one of the photos.

Did anyone notice the misspelling of Chicago in the textbook?

They wrote it as "Chicargo" with an extra "R". Interestingly, there's a Spanish word "chicar" that means "to drink".

Speaking of Chicago, its signature drink is Jeppson's Mal?rt, a type of b?sk liqueur flavored with anise or wormwood.

While Gabelick admits it's a "niche liquor," it has become a "rite of passage." In Joe Swanberg's 2013 film Drinking Buddies, taking a shot of Mal?rt is portrayed as a Chicago tradition for erasing past mistakes. Jason Sudeikis' character humorously describes it as like "swallowing a burnt condom filled with gasoline." Despite its limited sales, Mal?rt has grown in popularity among bartenders, bikers, and Chicago's southside community, where it's considered a "rite of passage." Satirist John Hodgman has even incorporated it into his stage show, offering shots to the audience. In an interview with Chicagoist, Hodgman described Mal?rt as tasting like "pencil shavings and heartbreak." One Reddit user remarked, "I had the shot still in my mouth when my friend said, 'It tastes like a flooded basement.' And yes, that's exactly what it tastes like to me."
