CHERISH YOUR REAL WEALTH!

A couple of days back, I came across an interesting story.

Once a rich father took his son on a trip to show how poor people live.

They spent a whole day on the farm of a poor family.

On their way back home, the father asked his son, “Have you seen how poor they are?”

The young boy smiled and said, “Yes, dad. I saw that we have a swimming pool, but they have a river flowing by their house where they can go for a walk.

We have walls to protect us, but they have friends to stand by them in case of any crisis.

We spend our time watching television, but they spend their time with family and relatives.

Thank you, Dad, for showing me how poor WE really are.”

In a world consumed by the pursuit of the latest luxuries, the young boy's insightful perspective serves as a gentle reminder.

Even while acknowledging the amenities they have, he highlights the simple joys that surround the villagers- a river flowing by, the warmth of friends, and the closeness of family members.

I am sure you all remember Shashi Kapoor’s epic reply to Big B’s question in ‘Deewar’: “Aaj mere paas building hai, property hai, bank balance hai, gaadi hai, kya hai tumhare paas?”

"Mere paas maa hai.”?

Indeed, the value of life lies not in what we own but in meaningful relationships and shared experiences!

Sometimes, we become so obsessed with material possessions that we forget that these possessions don’t give us real happiness.

Just think of going on a long drive in a Mercedes without someone special!

What is the value of such luxuries with nobody to enjoy our life with?

While fighting against Pancreatic Cancer, Steve Jobs made some significant observations- “ Right now, lying on my hospital bed, reminiscing all my life, I recognize that all the recognition and wealth I took so much pride in has faded and become meaningless in the face of imminent death….Love your family, spouse, and friends…Treat them right, Cherish them..”

Let's celebrate the richness of life by spending quality time with our loved ones, and cherishing the genuine treasures that contribute to lasting happiness.

It's time to redefine our understanding of wealth and embrace the true essence of a fulfilling life!
