Chef's owners sued after expansion deal sours

The owners of Chef's Restaurant are being sued for $575,000 after a deal to buy a neighboring building to use as a production facility fell apart.

According to a summons filed Aug. 27 in Erie County Supreme Court, siblings Louis Billittier Jr. and Mary Beth Billittier signed a $900,000 contract last summer to buy the Buffalo Scale and Supply Co. Inc. facility at 264-280 Seneca St., Buffalo, located kitty-corner to the restaurant at 291 Seneca St.

Famous for its spaghetti parmesan and other Italian specialties, Chef’s in 1997 began bottling three types of spaghetti sauce for sale in supermarkets, at the restaurant and online. The Buffalo Scale building was intended to be used as a production facility for jarred sauces and other foods.

Plus, closure and eviction followed a state tax warrant at a North Buffalo restaurant; a $20 million project would raze and replace the Deep South Taco building on Hertel; and new claims have been filed against the owner of Buffalo RiverWorks.

Nothing is business friendly here . Lawyers always there to sue and preservationists won't even let the owner of the cobblestone buildings , falling apart and had a fire .. build what he wants . Wonder why we are top 10 in cities with poverty
