A Chef's Guide to Success
This week I delve into the heart of success in the hospitality realm in my latest blog post, "Mastering the Art of Culinary Communication: A Chef's Guide to Success."
Drawing on my extensive experience as a professional chef and culinary career coach, I reveal the often underestimated importance of communication skills in the kitchen and beyond.
This post unravels the intricate ways effective communication can transform a chaotic kitchen into a well-orchestrated symphony and elevate a chef's interaction with customers.
Offering actionable takeaways, I share insights into sharpening active listening skills, embracing clear and concise communication, and developing emotional intelligence.
Join me in unlocking the secret ingredient to success in the dynamic world of culinary arts - communication that transcends the plate and leaves a lasting impression on both the team and diners.
I even include a tried and true way to connect more deeply with your loved ones with, "The Connection Game"

What I'm Watching
The process of writing engaging blog posts often leads me down some pretty deep rabbit holes as I search for data, stats, and other relevant information so I can present them to you with authority.
And I learn a lot along the way. Such was the case this week.
Kim Scott's book, Radical Candor, was a transformative experience because even though most of it takes place in the software and information technology sector, the examples she included often reminded me of the mistakes I had made in my career.
In the end, no matter what we sell, it always comes down to relationships and our ability - or lack thereof - to communicate effectively in those relationships.
This is why I re-watched Kim's TedX talk about "How to Say What You Mean, Without Being Mean".
Check it out yourself, and see if you don't laugh, or groan in recognition.

What I'm Reading
I had a similar experience when I read Kelly Featheringham, ACC "Maximizing Your Team's Performance by Mastering Your ABCs".
There were parts of the book that had me talking to myself, "Adam, what a dummy you've been.". And there were parts where I nodded to myself in agreement.

Ultimately I knew I was going to be a better leader because of it, and that's what mattered most to me.
And that's why you should read it too.
What I'm Listening To
As a podcaster myself, I have a lot of respect for anyone who can do it well, and Andy has it clocked.
He has a guest list anyone would envy but where he shines is when brings his professional coaching insights and couples that with his experience in the hospitality industry.
I always come away with one or two new ideas that I can't wait to test.
You might feel the same way after listening to a couple of episodes, and be sure to like, follow, and leave a review, it always helps to spread the word about the #newhospitalityculture

1 年Adam Lamb, I'm truly humbled and grateful that you found 'Maximizing Team Performance by Mastering Your ABCs' insightful. Your honest reflection on how the book resonated with you – recognizing both areas for growth and moments of agreement – is precisely the kind of introspective journey I hoped to inspire in my readers. It's encouraging to hear that the book played a role in your leadership development. The path to becoming a better leader is often paved with moments of self-awareness, both challenging and affirming. Remember, every leader has those 'aha' moments where we realize there's so much more to learn and improve. If there's one key takeaway I hope all my readers grasp, it's the continuous journey of growth and learning in leadership. Your experience and willingness to openly share it is a testament to that journey. Thank you for recommending the book to others. If it sparks even a fraction of the reflection and growth you've experienced, I'll consider it a success.
