Chef Imogen Bakes for Books!
Delifresh ltd
Awarded Best Food Service Supplier 2021 by the FPC. Finalist for 5 FPC awards 2022.
Today Imogen visited us here at Delifresh for her bake sale - the aim is to get more cookery literature to children by raising funds with Imogen’s pop-up shop.
Imogen is a little chef with a big passion for the kitchen, and we would love for more people to join in kitchen play!!
Donations would buy more food related books for school libraries. Depending on how successful this turns out, the aim would be to make a booklet for the children to take home.
The booklet would contain fun food facts, easy recipes, a food quiz and a page with some Makaton signs for foods.
At a young age it was clear that Imogen was struggling to hit many milestones in her development. Imogen was diagnosed with global development delay and was pretty much non-verbal; we had started learning Makaton when Covid arrived.
Same as much of the country did, Danny and Imogen started baking and cooking to occupy the time and this is when the magic started!!! Imogen became fascinated with the ingredients and started naming them. She started getting excited with her MyDelifresh deliveries, recognising the vans and loving the fruit and veg delivered!
Her vocabulary started to pick up and so the kitchen turned the kitchen into the classroom. She became more and more confident with speech and now speaks in almost fully intelligible sentences!
Although Imogen still faces challenges, due to her delay she is less frustrated. This allowing her passion for the kitchen to shine.?Seeing first-hand the benefit of learning through play can have was eye opening.
Imogen's parents wanted to help others discover the joy the kitchen can bring, no matter the ability of the child or parent.
Learning in the kitchen from a young age will also teach children some important life skills. Their time bonding in the kitchen helped build an amazing relationship and created unforgettable memories. If this helps get even one more child and parent get into the kitchen together it will be worth it. Hopefully we can inspire a new generation of chef’s and bakers.

The hope is some businesses/establishments will allow us to set Imogen's pop-up cake stand for an hour or 2 to sell some yummy treats, served by Imogen in her chef whites - today Imogen visited us here at Delifresh for just that and £373 was raised!
?Danny and Imogen would be happy for anyone that lets us set up post on social media platforms. We would give them a shout out when we are able to get books due to the donations from the time we are with them. We will provide a receipt at the end to show how much was raised in donations.?If you wish to help them please don't hesitate to get in touch!
She truly is an awesome little girl and the BIGGEST Delifresh warrior we have!
