Yesterday, I stumbled upon a hard copy of "Who Moved My Cheese" in my library, a book I bought back in 2007 on the recommendation of my Global Leader in Covansys at that time. Reading through it again, I was reminded of its timeless wisdom and relevance, especially in today's dynamic business environment.
This book has profoundly shaped my professional journey, teaching me to embrace change and navigate through various twists and turns. From CBSI to Covansys, then CSC and finally DXC, my journey all the way till 2020 has been marked by numerous transitions. Yet, the lessons from this book have been a constant guide, helping me adapt and thrive.
The story features four characters - Sniff, Scurry, Hem, and Haw - each representing different responses to change. Here's how their lessons might apply to businesses today:
I share these thoughts as a perspective drawn from my journey. The spirit of "Who Moved My Cheese" speaks to acknowledging the reality of our situations, facing fears, adapting to change, and seeking out new opportunities.
It's an interesting thought: it's not the fastest or the strongest who survive, but those most responsive to change. As we navigate our respective mazes in the business world, may we find our 'new cheese'.
