Cheers to Sobriety: My Journey from Vision Quests to Self-Discovery

Check out this little tale from my journey! Back in 2006, I embarked on my inaugural vision quest. Now, let me tell you, prepping for a vision quest ain't your run-of-the-mill task. It's a deep dive into Native American spirituality, a quest to commune with the spirit realm. And for me, it was a crucial step toward achieving that elusive 100% Peace.
Let's rewind a bit. Before my first vision quest, I had to purge my body of years of abuse. I'd been unwittingly loading up on toxins in all sorts of ways, basically signing up for an early checkout from this mortal coil. But after my second vision quest, my body started speaking up. It had had enough of my nonsense. The newfound energy from these quests was literally pushing me out of my comfort zone—I had to keep relocating my studios to accommodate it the continual expansion and new people coming!
So, picture this: we're at the grand opening after party for our third studio space, above Café Troia, and Judge Daniels wants to toast the occasion with a drink. Now, I'd just come down from the mountains, so I politely decline. But the judge insists we can have Odools, because hey, it's non-alcoholic, right? Wrong. Turns out, there's a sneaky 1% alcohol hiding in there. Cue me taking a sip, then another, and suddenly feeling like I got hit by a truck. Two hours later, I'm hugging the porcelain throne, bidding adieu to my dinner, and realizing it's time to bid adieu to alcohol for good.
Funny thing is, it took that incident to make me realize that maybe, just maybe, my body was trying to tell me something all along. See, it turns out my DNA is not a fan of the booze. But like many of us, I'd built up such a tolerance that I never made the connection between my health issues and my drinking habits.
That fateful celebration back in 2007 was the beginning of a major life overhaul for me. It paved the way for ditching sugar—round two, mind you—just a couple of years ago. Now, let me be clear: I'm not here to judge anyone who enjoys a tipple. We're all just trying to navigate this human experience as best we can. But for me, embracing sobriety has been a game-changer. I wake up every day feeling grateful for the gift of life, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

So, if you're contemplating a change in your own life, know that you're not alone. There are folks out here, myself included, who've walked the walk and are more than willing to walk alongside you. Whatever path you choose, I hope you choose yourself every step of the way.
Here's to a blessed day and a life filled with nothing but greatness.
Peace out, Sid
