Cheerio, but not goodbye.........
I have come to a point in my life where ‘change’ is happening and i am stepping outside of my comfort zone and away from being a Vistage Chair. When I started as a Vistage chair, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into, I was 32 just completed an exit of the company I was working for, originally I looked at becoming a member, I never dreamed that I would spend 8 years doing something I was born to do and impact so many lives, most importantly my own.
My Vistage journey has been the best thing that has happened to me and for that I am blessed, I started with little asests and am in a similar position to now however my mind and soul are ever increasingly over flowing. We have the opportunity to build an ‘alternate reality’ which is hugely exciting and incredibly emotional and challenging.
Working with Vistage member @Alice Jordan I was introduced to @EOS and have been hooked ever since. We set ourselves a 10 year target to be ‘Nomad’ as well as finding somewhere for us as a family to move to, which suited our values better and would allow us to be in a community which matched this. We started to explore NZ (somewhere which has become a spiritual home) again after a last minute trip to go and see family xmas just gone We then came across the most amazing school https://www.greenschool.org/nz/ which is opening next February, since then we have been pushing forward to make this happen, it has been trying, and hard as all change is, as well as exciting and exhilarating at the same time. We have sold our house in the UK, and am writing this from our 'temporary' home.
From a work/income perspective I am transitioning 25% of private clients/income to work with me remotely using Zoom for coaching. Have made the decision to focus and niche working with CEO’s and leadership teams of Remote/Co-located and distributed businesses, this is for 2 reasons, firstly they will be used to and working with the technology and I understand their pains/challenges/. Secondly the location we will be in will have a population of 85,000 and the ability to get work in my locality will be limited to none (based on what I do and the research). Have worked hard on the brand and identity and attach details of ‘Prsence’ something that is prevalent for all, but specifically for ‘remote’ based CEOs’ and leaders.
So this is where I ask for help (this is me being vulnerable and out of my comfort zone)
· Am looking for somewhere to live with the family November and December in the UK - location isn’t particularly important, just need somewhere to ‘be’ for 6-8 weeks. Do you or any of your members have somewhere that we could use/borrow/house sit –
· Introductions to online/remote/co-located/distributed businessss for me to speak to/interview/network with which will help with the research – Naomi’s background is as a researcher and has a PhD so this is exciting and relevant research.
· Introductions to existing EOS implementers./speakers
· Any contacts in NZ
· Consider me as a speaker for the ‘future of work’ or EOS
I have so many people to thank
@John Williams for introducing me to Vistage,
@Steve Gilroy for trusting and having faith in me and convincing @Tony Price I was worth the gamble.
@Robert French for being my mentor/coach and supporter who saw more in me than I ever could
@Artie Isaac A gentleman, a scholar and my muse, our relationship transcends so many 'mental models'
@Jay McDonald, @Dan Stuber, @Julie Nimmons, @Troy Rice, and all my other Studio VI cohort - the laughs, the tears, the root beer floaters.
@Chris Everard I have learnt much from you my friend
All the Chairs from the UK, the US and beyond, your care, your share your inspiration has been selfless to the cause.
All the 100 + Speakers that I have worked with over the years, I value and appreciate your work and endeavours, your impact is often not felt for many years to come.
Most of all Thank You to all the members, who trusted me and allowed me to be the 'challenger' + 'supporter' I have loved working with every single one of you, and your successes are a joy to behold.
I step away with a heavy heart and stepping away from the community and my members has been one of the hardest things I have had to do. Your love and support through my journey is a large part of where I am today, so I thank everyone of you.
