The winners in the second annual?National Grocery Retail Awards, were revealed yesterday in an online awards ceremony at 12 noon. The awards scheme is an amalgam of Ireland’s premier awards for fresh food retailing, the?Checkout?Best in Fresh awards, and the leading awards for suppliers to the industry, the?Checkout?National Retail Supplier awards. The awards?highlight best-in-class performance in retailing and honour the companies and suppliers that help Ireland’s pioneering stores and retail chains to achieve levels of service and product excellence that set them apart from their competitors. A new contract extension worth more than €1 million has been signed between?Lidl Ireland?and?Lakeland Dairies. This new deal will see Lakeland Dairies supply a core range of ice cream products including an exclusive festive Deluxe ice cream range to?Lidl?stores nationwide this Christmas. The latest deal expands the range of locally produced Irish?ice cream?products to ten. This is in addition to an increase of exports to selected Lidl stores in the Czech Republic alongside its already existing export of long-life milk to Lidl stores in Great Britain.
Aldi?has today announced an ambitious plan to expand its store network in Dublin to include a €73 million investment in 11 new stores in the city over the next five years. The new stores will see the creation of 350 full-time permanent jobs and 550 construction jobs over the period. The investment follows a steady year of trading. Aldi’s turnover in Ireland grew by 1% to over €2 billion in the year to 31 December 2021, up by €23 million on 2020.
Dunnes Stores?has become the first and only Irish food retailer to secure the coveted Crossed Grain Trademark for its own brand of gluten-free products. Now, Dunnes Stores and the?Coeliac Society of Ireland?have announced a new Christmas sponsorship deal involving the launch of the Gluten Free Christmas Hub 2022. It can be difficult to enjoy Christmas when you are coeliac or gluten intolerant. With over 500,000 individuals falling into that category, Dunnes Stores have teamed up with the Coeliac Society of Ireland to lead the way in demonstrating how you can have a tasty enjoyable festive season with friends and family without the fear of being ill as a result.
