- AI in EHR: Epic has developed a tool called the AI Trust and Assurance Suite. This suite offers continuous validation of artificial intelligence solutions and has reporting dashboards that automatically update to provide users with detailed analyses, real-time data collection and mapping.
- Remote Patient Monitoring: Intermountain Health is expanding remote patient monitoring to older adults with chronic illnesses as part of a pilot project for value-based care patient. - Digital Health: Providence has launched Praia Health, a digital health startup, after receiving a $20 million investment. Praia Health provides personalized patient engagement software for health systems' apps and websites, allowing patients to schedule visits and receive notifications for care needs. The startup integrates with multiple digital health platforms for streamlined data management.
- Stats: Patients' perception of hospital safety has worsened since the pandemic. Based on the analysis of 12.5 million patient encounters, only 68.5% of hospital patients reported feeling "very safe," down from 73.6% in 2019.?
- M&A: The number of hospital and health systems mergers and acquisitions announced in the first quarter this year was substantially higher than the same period in 2023 Eighteen transactions with $10 billion in total revenues for the targets were announced in the first quarter of 2024, compared to 12 deals with $3.4 billion in revenues for the targets in Q1 2023.
- Policy: CMS finalized the CY 2025 Rate Announcement for Medicare Advantage and Part D programs, boosting payments to MA plans by 3.70% on average, totaling over $16 billion. Government payments to MA plans are projected to range between $500 and $600 billion in 2025.
