Checklist to create a KILLER media pitch and get featured – and make the journalists want more

When you want to get featured in the media and stand out from entrepreneurs who just send press releases where they promote themselves (don’t worry, you are not the only one who might have tried this tactic), use this checklist to make sure your media pitch is KILLER. And you get featured easily and build true connections with the journalists + be seen as the recognized leader who attracts new opportunities and new clients without the hustle (and can multiply their prices).
KILLER media pitch checklist:?
1. Headline
Is your headline telling clearly what the story idea and the angle is? Or is it just a fluffy concept that leaves the journalist confused? Create a headline that tells exactly the story idea + what the story angle is.?
2. You
Why should the journalist interview you? Why are you the authority? Why should they choose you over others? Make sure you position yourself as the expert and authority, so they know why you are.?
3. Noteworthy story idea
I have received countless media pitches where there is no story idea at all – the pitch is just an introduction about themselves and why they are so great.?
So make sure you tell clearly in your pitch what is the actual story angle and idea you are offering to them. No fluff.
4. Arguments
And then also – tell why your story idea matters. Why now is a great time to pick up this story idea? Does it have social significance? Is the phenomenon current? Has the topic been previously discussed one-sidedly in the media and do you want to bring a new side? Tell me why they should write about this.
5. Value
Remember to keep in mind that your pitch should offer value to the journalist and to the media audience. It should not be just your introduction or promoting your business.?
