Checklist Before Riding Your Electric Scooter at Night

Nighttime rides on your electric scooter can be thrilling, but safety should be paramount. Before you hit the road after dark, make sure to tick off this checklist:

  1. Ensure your scooter's lights and reflectors are in working order. You need to see and be seen.
  2. Don't forget your helmet and reflective clothing. Visibility and protection matter.
  3. Make sure your scooter's battery is fully charged to avoid surprises mid-ride.
  4. Test your scooter's horn or bell to alert others if needed. If you don't have any form of audible warning, they are cheaply available for purchase.
  5. Plan your route in advance, and be aware of any obstacles or road closures.
  6. Carry ID and have emergency contacts saved on your phone. This should be a general rule for any outdoor activity. Additionally, familiarize yourself with local traffic laws and regulations to ensure a safe and legal ride.?
  7. Ensure your scooter is in good working condition—brakes, tires, and steering.
  8. Keep an eye out for pedestrians, cars, and potential hazards on the road.
  9. At night, visibility is reduced. Slow down to have more reaction time.
