As you've heard before, "no idea is a bad idea." But you might have learned by now, this comforting piece of advice that your mentors gave you a decade ago isn't true anymore.
There is a such thing as a bad idea. Especially when time and (sometimes limited) resources are spent.
There are a simple--and free of cost--solutions to acting on a bad idea.
Talk to people. Talk to anyone and everyone. Do not keep your ideas to yourself. Do not secretly act on the ideas that you think are great.
Don't get me wrong, the same goes for potentially successful ideas. Whichever way it goes, talk to colleagues, peers, family, a nosey neighbor, anyone.
The input you'll get from other people will surprise you--and more importantly--help you.
Go on, tell someone who's objective, and tell someone who would be a master at executing your ideas.
When you're excited and tempted to act right away, I insist you resist that urge and take the extra step to talk it out with other people so you can ensure the idea will have a positive ROI.
