Check out some of our exciting plans for 2022
As usual 2021 was a busy year and into 2022 continues to be an exciting time in our field. When I look back over more than 14 years since I began this work, it's incredible how far we have come from Dr Sarno working with just a few Psychotherapists and being ostracised by his colleagues. With the global movement that began at our first conference in 2009, plus the growing pain science over the past 10 - 15 years (including the studies published this year in our field), the understanding about chronic pain is definitely changing. We may have a way to go, but we have the evidence supporting us and I have no doubt that over the next few years this will create very real change in the way chronic pain is treated in the western world, with the emphasis at last being on recovery rather than just 'management'.
Some exciting events for 2022
We have a few exciting events planned for 2022, including?our London conference on 24th September, which was delayed from 2020. Watch this space because we have some of our well-loved specialists from the US joining us again to help spread the word. In January we will finally have time to update everything on the website and then we will make this event public.
As well as taking on a?new cohort of health professionals?in January for our next group intake, we will also be launching a?new online chronic pain recovery programme. This has taken a lot of work over the past few months and has involved a number of our experience SIRPA-trained practitioners, so we are excited to be able to share this in the new year. Watch out for our emails in January when we will share all the details.
Pain Brain Documentary
In the meantime, I was lucky enough to be able to view the Pain Brain documentary which follows the progress of a couple of the participants involved in the Boulder study where Alan Gordon and his colleague, Christie Uipi, used Pain Reprocessing Therapy to help participants resolve their chronic pain.
The study and this documentary has been possible due to crowd-funding and the generosity of people in our field and as they finish the film, the publishers are seeking help with finishing costs, including animation, colour, and sound mixing. Every dollar counts and donations are tax deductible so if you would like to find out more and donate to help them complete the film,?just click this link.
