In this regard, Cilla Henriette, Partner and Business Humanist at Innate Motion, explains how the perception of aging has changed over time in her presentation "The meaning of ageing across life stages". With the increasing importance of protecting the skin from UV rays and cancer risks, this trend is becoming an increasingly important issue.
According to Mintel's 2024 report, the rise in skin problems has led to a surge in the number of products that pass sensitive skin tests and are advertised as noncomedogenic, with these products primarily targeting specific issues such as redness and acne.
Between 2021 and 2023, claims about sensitive skin-friendly products increased from 26% to 35%, and the proportion of Chinese consumers who reported sensitive skin increased from 35% in 2021 to 41% in 2022, and the numbers have stabilized through 2024. The report also found that more than half (52%) of Thai consumers describe their facial skin as sensitive, indicating that increased air pollution is increasing interest in skin protection and treatment of sensitive skin.
