Check out FACE (Former and Current Employees) of Amazon
So my I will never work for Amazon post got a bit of attention. That wasn't planned, but thanks for all of your comments. I guess a lot of people share some of my feelings?
I just want to take the opportunity while the spotlight is on me to share a link.
A former Amazon employee has contacted me and pointed me at the FACE (Former and Current Employees) of Amazon site (https://sites.google.com/site/thefaceofamazon/home), which features the following open letter to Jeff Bezos.
If you are interested, please do check out the site, and the stories of the individuals there. Are they all lying or exaggerating?
An Open Letter to Jeff Bezos
Dear Jeff,
We are The Former And Current Employees of Amazon (The FACE of Amazon). We want to help you make Amazon as good for its employees as it is for its customers.
It's time for you to finally stop denying Amazon's management problems and start fixing them before someone else forces you to do so (or makes it happen in ways you may not like). It was very disappointing to see you repeatedly publicly attacking the comprehensive NY Times article published this past August, which exposed key problems in Amazon's corporate culture. The reporters did a very holistic job with strong journalistic ethics, leaving out even more atrocious stories of Amazon management behavior which have now also come to light via social media.
That article has led to a groundswell of top performing employees revealing their mistreatment at the hands of unethical managers who are empowered by Amazon executives and HR without sufficient checks and balances to protect their staff from abuse. We have gathered dozens of these stories from our members so that they can no longer be treated as isolated incidents.
We are asking you to immediately fix this major flaw in the company culture we have otherwise thrived in. Even though many of us left due to our being mistreated, or were forced to leave as part of it, we are all committed to driving positive change at Amazon through whatever lawful means are necessary to do so.
If you choose to ignore us and continue to deny the clear facts of what is going on in your company, we will initiate a labor movement to regain our rights through unionization as was necessary for generations of mistreated employees before us. Alternatively, your growing presence as one of the largest multinational employers in the world probably justifies our seeking wide-ranging legislative action from our political representatives, so that we set the right labor standards for the entire industry.
It's your choice: either make history by leading the charge for fair treatment of your employees or let history show you to be the antagonist in the creation of a new labor movement and legislation.
Sincerely,
The FACE of Amazon
