As part of an on-going effort to saving our environment and prevent oil pills like the one that happen in the Golf of Mexico a few years ago, our team at Baker Hughes - Subsea Drilling Systems set out to develop the next-generation Blow Out Preventer (BOP) surface control system to simplify operations for our customers and improve drilling availability. What we came up with was a highly simplified and modular solution – SeaONYX. It’s exciting because it can reduce the total cost of ownership by up to 30%, with an availability of >99%. It’s practical because SeaONYX can be easily retrofitted in rigs with existing control systems. 

I’m so proud to be a part of such an exceptional Group that worked hard to create an innovative product, that addresses our customers’ need to reduce drilling downtime. Taking energy forward isn’t just a catchphrase for us at Baker Hughes - it’s a constant state of learning, adapting, and growing.
