Let’s have a bit of fun today and give ourselves a maximum spend of £70,000 and see what we can get on the Scottish property market for our budget. We will document the lowest priced property and a property ‘on budget’ at the £70K mark.
We will look at the properties hitting the market in a Scottish town near you.
Are you are a first time buyer or investor?
Fife
Starting with the Kingdom we call Fife. The cheapest property we spotted was £30k, requiring a full refurbishment. A three bedroom property in need of a full refurbishment, this property is going to auction.
And a property for our top budget of £70k, we found a nice top floor flat, this has been listed since the start of June, 3 months later and it is still for sale with no noted price changes, now could be the time to make a reasonable offer. Top floor is always a good investment, no issues with flooding from above.
Glasgow
You can always guarantee there will be a ‘wee bargain’ when it comes to Glasgow. Here we found a one bedroom flat listed for £10K. Again this property is going to auction, but it is part of an ‘executory sale’ so it might be a hidden gem.
And for our top budget of £70k in Glasgow, you might consider this nice one bedroom flat in the Hillfoot area of Glasgow, this might be a steal as the original price when this was listed back in March was £90K, so we suspect the Home Report might be a lot more than its current asking price.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh you have not let us down! As we suspected, the lowest price we could find here is a garage at £20K, there are no houses available under £70K, and guess what there are no flats available in our top budget. There is, however, another garage also valued at £70k.

Dundee
Property does not hang around long in Dundee, so it is no surprise that the lowest price flat has a closing date of the 30th of August, but has it sold? It does not say it is under offer. The property was only listed on the 22nd of August. It might be worth a call to the Estate Agents to check and see if this did go?
For our top budget property, I decided not to list the one at £70k, because it looks like there is a far greater bargain to be had. The flat (below) is a ‘two bedroom’ flat (more letting potential) that has been listed since February this year, and more than that it was originally put up for sale at £85K, which would lead us to believe the Home Report must be around £85k. Den’s Road is also a good area for student catchment.
Aberdeen
The Granite City property market has slowly started to thrive again. This seems like quite a bargain, £20k one bedroom flat in the City Centre, which means higher rental income.
For our top budget property, we found this one in Cornhill. Quite a steal with 2 bedrooms. This property was originally listed back in May at £85k, therefore the current listing is £15K cheaper than when it was first listed - might be worth a call on this one?
