A Cheap way to Grow your Company!

A Cheap way to Grow your Company!

Hello Executives, Entrepreneurs, Visionaries and Friends,

Summer is approaching and it is your chance to grab the next great employees while also doing a little good too. I'm talking about the joy of working with interns! It's more exciting than it sounds. Hear me out.

What is the cost? If done correctly... Nothing! I don't mean its free, the best interns want to be paid, but they will give you a fair return on your investment. So the cost is mitigated by the productivity you receive in return.

I know several intelligent hardworking college students who would be perfect to help your company grow. They'd bring a new perspective to your firm, have endless energy to share and can clue you in to what the next generation of consumers is all about. Hiring an intern will help your business on many levels. I'll name a few here, so you can mull them over. Then contact me for some resumes and setup a few interviews. What do you have to lose? Nothing. What can you gain? A lot! Here are some GREAT reasons to hire the perfect intern.

1. Fresh Vision: Your business needs to be in tune with what is going on in the real world. You won't get that type of info from your long time employees. They're too in the woods. You need a fresh new academic mind, not yet contaminated by your industry's business-as-usual non-sense. An intern gives you new eyes with which to see the world as it actually is.

2. Energy: Remember when you could party all night, study all day and still eat a full pizza for a snack? Well that is what an intern can do when unguided. Now imagine if you focused that energy on a project with a deadline! Interns are used to deadlines, because that is how most study for tests. So bring in a few interns and sick them on the projects everyone is afraid tackle. Best case is that it the project gets completed, worse case it flops (but no worries because no one on staff was doing it anyway).

3. Digital Chops: Yes! That's right. They know digital better than you ever will. Are you really going to trust your old school marketer to tweet your tweets, book your facebook or link your linkedin? Don't be boring or dull! Interns know what to do and what to say. Bring a couple interns on board and let them go at it. Don't give them the keys to the kingdom, but setup a new fan club facebook page or project page and let them run it Give them a video camera and tell them to film your products in action. Tell everyone it is an intern site and review their work but let the reins a little loose and see what happens. You might be amazed.

4. Future Talent: How do you beat out the big firms for the best employees? Why not build a relationship with them first! By hiring an intern you have a chance to earn some street-cred with the soon-to-be-entering-the-workforce VIPs. It is far easier to hire a person that already knows and loves you.

There are many more reasons to hire an intern. I have made offers to two myself and am eagerly waiting to hear back. (The best candidates have lots of offers making it best to offer big and early). You should do the same this year.

I'm also taking resumes from any students seeking internships. And internship requests from Executives.

Let's see if we can make this year the year of the intern!

Executives and Students, feel free to contact me!

Cheers,
