Chatter & Verse - January #14

Just like any creative agency, we’ve got lots to say. And Chatter and Verse is bringing it to you all in one place – every month. To kick off the new year, we’ll be rounding up the latest thinking in the industry, sharing our insight into making people matter, and letting you in on what we’ve been up to outside the office.

We went along to the latest TRU un-conference, which we were proud to sponsor alongside our friends Luminos Insight Ltd . We learnt all about the Internal Talent Market from Danielle Latto Harte , CEOs and Employer Brands from Ken Kane , and the recruiter-bot hybrid from John Rose . And we were also treated to an extra talk from Lorna Madden and Lauren Herriott from Opencast | B Corp? all about Agile HR. You’ll be hearing more from us about the evening and all the insight we got soon, but until then, here’s Sarah Cockett ’s highlight…

"My highlight was the discussion about the internal talent market, it was really interesting to hear about the benefits of shopping for talent within your own organisation, and how internal talent can be nurtured best"

Some of the team headed down to London for this year’s RAD awards. Though we didn’t bring home any wins, it was a great evening catching up with some of our friends, and clients, and celebrating some incredible work!

It might sound cliche, but it is genuinely a huge deal to even be nominated for a RAD. Over the last few years we’ve been proud to have a representative from Chatter on the judging panel - and this year was no exception. Harry Milton , our Head of Projects, gave us the scoop on what it was like to be part of the judging panel for this year’s awards:

I had the best time judging the RADs last year (even if the first stage review was pretty intense). From meeting and debating with some great people across our industry, to recognising a bunch of brilliant and innovative entries, it was a pleasure. And to have a night out at the end to celebrate it all - what's not to like?

We created MTC UK 's careers website a good few years ago now. So when their corporate website came up for a refresh, we jumped at the chance. Over the past few years, we’ve been delivering a bunch of corporate sites that bring together a client's employer proposition within the overarching corporate brand. And we created a brand new corporate site for MTC that did just that.?

It integrates careers comms and the EVP with the wider brand, while also carefully catering for other site visitors such as potential clients, press, and investors. Which means we can surface loads of great information across both the corporate and careers spaces whilst keeping everything consistent.?

With the consistent creative design that reflects their brand, new photography of their colleagues, a space for blogs and news stories, we created a new site that really tells an authentic story. And the plan is to keep building on this over time, so it's a great platform to grow and expand as MTC do.

We do a lot of campaigns that are aimed at students, but it’s not often we get to work on campaigns that aim to attract teachers themselves.

We recently partnered with Trinity Academy Bradford to help them reach new audiences and change perceptions of their school as a place to work. We created a budget-friendly video as well as a highly targeted social media campaign that hammered home that the Academy was “what education was meant to feel like”.

The campaign generated over 100k impressions and drove thousands of clicks to their careers site. It led to triple the number of attendees to their Open Event than in previous years, and exceeded expectations in teachers selecting the Academy as their ‘first choice’ school - something that was a key indicator in successfully changing perceptions of the school amongst teachers in the local area.

The team all got together at Chatter HQ for our first team meeting of the year. It was great to kick off the new year getting everyone on the same page on our plans for the year and excited about where we’re headed together. And we had a chance to cook up some plans for the next Supper Club trip…

It was over the second someone mentioned tacos at the team meeting. The Chatter Supper Club had to get to Neon Cactus for some tacos. The first supper club of the year!

Suffice it to say, we're still recovering (in the best way possible!). Stay tuned to see where we head for the next culinary adventure – once we've emerged from our taco-induced food coma!
