ChatGPT’s impact on Cybersecurity

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence tool released by OpenAI that provides a conversational user interface or chatbot that allows questions in natural language. It is an AI language model tool based on a Recursive Neural Network (RNN) that can code, write articles and memos for you, and much more.

ChatGPT and Cybersecurity

According to experts, ChatGPT is currently in its third progression phase, which is similar to the mimicry of the human brain. This poses a threat to those who work in intellectual fields as the chatbot can learn the ‘tone’ of a user's writing and use that to emulate the user. In addition, there are several other ways that ChatGPT can be misused:

  1. It can be used for nefarious purposes such as disseminating misinformation, spam, or malicious content.
  2. It can replicate and amplify biases in the data that it is trained on.
  3. It has the ability to automate certain processes and tasks, which can lower the barrier of certain malicious attacks.

a. Due to being a generative AI system, it can be used to create and

orchestrate convincing phishing attacks as well as automate the generation

of malicious code.

b. It also has the ability to impersonate live human beings after enough data

has been fed into it. This will lead to an increase in breaches in vital sectors

such as finance and banking.

Thus, in closing, we can conclude that while ChatGPT is powerful and easy to use, in the wrong hands it can wreak havoc and cause untold damage to several vital sectors.?
