Over the past few months, I have observed the rapid advancement of AI technology and have become completely engrossed and obsessed with its potential. The recent release of ChatGPT4, accompanied by yesterdays announcement on its ground-breaking plugin capabilities, portends a significant transformation in how we engage with technology and access information.

When I envisioned "The God App," “Say Goodbye to Search Engines” and “Is the AI assistant the end of E-Commerce as we know it?” I sensed that my entire universe is on the verge of a metamorphosis. In this article, I will delve into the ways in which ChatGPT4's launch and the announcement on plugins are poised to revolutionise various facets of our lives and how you can start to get your teams and business ready.

The Power of Plugins: Unlocking ChatGPT4's Full Potential

One of the key factors that will make ChatGPT4's impact even more profound than its existence full-stop is the introduction of plugins. These plugins will enable ChatGPT4 to access an even broader range of data sources and functionalities, further enhancing its capabilities and revolutionising the way we interact with technology.

The initial set of plugin partners for ChatGPT, which includes Expedia, Opentable, Fiscalnote, Shopify, Instacart, and Wolfram. By using Expedia's plugin, users can create tailored and exciting trips with chatGPT and then book all aspects, while Instacart's plugin would enable them to use chatGPT to build a meal plan, build a shopping list and then order shopping from their favorite local stores.

They enable the AI to connect with various external data sources, APIs, and services, granting it access to an enormous wealth of information beyond its pre-existing training data. How will plugins enhance ChatGPT4's capabilities?

In a prior article discussing the God app, we envisioned a future where personal virtual assistants possess the capacity to execute any task, owing to their integration with transactional APIs and access to colossal data repositories. Now, as ChatGPT4's plugin capabilities come to fruition, this vision edges closer to reality. These plugins will empower ChatGPT4 to access information and execute tasks directly from diverse sources on the web, essentially morphing the AI into a formidable, omniscient virtual assistant.

As we previously noted in the article, "In this future, personal virtual assistants would rely on APIs to access information and complete tasks. These APIs would be transactional, meaning they would only provide the necessary information or functionality to complete a specific task." With ChatGPT4's plugin capabilities, these transactional APIs become an essential component of the AI's functionality, allowing it to deliver users a seamless and personalised experience.

The end of search engine domination is nigh

My article on "Say goodbye to Search Engines" detailed how Conversational AI would eventually supplant static search engine experiences, affording users more nuanced and personalised search results. The era of inputting keywords into a search bar is waning, as dynamic and interactive dialogues with AI assistants take the spotlight.

ChatGPT4's plugin capabilities will hasten this transformation, allowing the AI to access the internet as well as vast quantities of data from various sources, rendering search results even more precise and personalised.

We envisioned a future where transactional APIs and massive data stores fuel these AI assistants, eliminating the necessity for conventional website browsing.

Susan asks for and receives a personalised meal plan tailored to her family's dietary preferences and budget, helping her save both time and money. This is then converted into a shopping list and ordered via the chatGPT interface including the confirmation of a booking time for arrival.

Then, as Susan starts to cook the food, she will now be able to check back in with chatGPT, whose now on hand with all of the cooking instructions she could ever need.

By harnessing the power of AI, Tesco just transformed grocery shopping and cooking for the entire family, delivering brilliant experiences that can have a real impact on peoples lives.

How can you get ready for the AI summer?
