Before I begin this newsletter or sort of a personal essay, let me give you a brief recap of what's happening in my life.
So, let's come to the topic at hand...
ChatGPT vs. Content Writers
I don't know about you all, but I am a huge literature and history nerd. Even during my early days in school, literature (English and Hindi) and history were among the subjects I completed before hitting the first week of July.
I have shared this during my consultation calls regarding how Leo Tolstoy was among the first authors I had the privilege to read. My love for Tolstoy introduced me to Charles Dickens, Virginia Woolf, Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Thomas Hardy, George Orwell, and more British authors. During my later years in school, we learned about the United Kingdom, and I could instantly see the characters penned by these immortal souls.
Trust me -- this newsletter is about ChatGPT only. Just endure with me for a couple of more paragraphs.
Where was I? Yes, the United Kingdom. So, when I was learning about the United Kingdom, the authors, and, yes, the colonization by the Empire, I was introduced to the Industrial Revolution.
For those who live under the rock and are unaware of the industrial revolution -- here is something from the pages of history (I told you, I am a history nerd):
The Industrial Revolution was the transition period when several manufacturing industries transitioned from hand production methods to machines. It was the time when new machine tools were introduced that gave birth to the rise in the mechanized factory system. It was that time when the world saw a sudden rise in output without much human effort.
Definitely, the industrial revolution was criticized by many. Few criticized this revolution for causing ecological collapse and detrimental social systems. Some individualists even argued that not every revolution is necessary. Mary Shelley beautifully narrated this in her mind-blowing novel, The Modern Prometheus -- or commonly known as Frankenstein.
Trust me, this newsletter is still about ChatGPT and the rise of Artificial Intelligence. Just a couple of more paragraphs!
I guess we have now covered the basics (like 0.00001 percent) of the industrial revolution.

Now, since we are talking about the United Kingdom, let us move back to the 18th century and see what our dear old Charles Darwin is up to. Shall we?
In 1859, Dorabji Tata, the founder of Tata steel, was born, and in the same year, Charles Darwin published, On the Origin of Species.
After reading On the Origin of Species, another English philosopher, Spencer, coined the term, 'Survival of the Fittest.' Again, for those who are unaware of it -- 'Survival of the Fittest' originated from Darwinian Evolutionary Theory, where he talked about the mechanism of natural selection, or if you want to call it, reproductive success. In Darwin's own words, fittest meant "better adapted for the immediate, local environment."
Now, shall we find a way to connect the Industrial Revolution with this Survival Theory?
As an author who enjoyed Tolkien's Lords of the Rings, I do not like the industrial revolution. I am someone who prefers to see open landscapes rather than admire the architectural beauty of a mall. I am someone who would have preferred writing this personal essay on paper rather than using Google Docs. But the world does not stop evolving, and the only person who is going to survive is someone who is fittest.
The Industrial Revolution came -- hundreds and thousands lost their jobs! But, in 2023, when we go to a factory, we see workers operating those machines. I totally agree that machines have taken up most of the space, but... there are humans who upscaled themselves and tried to control those machines!
In the process of natural selection, those who adapted quickly and learned better ways to survive are the ones who can still get up from the bed, switch off their alarm, go to the factory, and switch on the machine!
This, my dear friend, is what matters in the end!
Are you afraid of OpenAI's ChatGPT or Google's BARD, or some new AI that Elon Musk might launch? You should be afraid if you personally think that you cannot adapt to the new technologies.
A true artist will never be afraid of such revolutions because, for a true artist, such revolutions are a way to understand how solid their reality is! Such revolutions are a way to dig deep within themselves and say, "C'mon, I was here long before you came. I will be here when your 2.0 goes live."
Tell me, could Artificial Intelligence have written about this marriage? I think not.
If you are someone who is struggling with jobs and are trying new ways to upscale themselves, get in touch with me, and we will sort this one out.
Enjoy the Saturday! Oh, dear, old monk!

1 年When LPG gas first came to our house way back in the 1960s, my grandmother would not eat anything cooked on it saying it will give "gas" and all sorts of disease. Till her death in 2002, at the ripe age of 108, she stuck to her guns and only ate food cooked on a coal fire. Now LPG is a way of life!!
