ChatGPT Vs Human Writer- Critical Analysis

Everyone is either giving a shout-out to ChatGPT or speculating if it will disrupt the writers’ industry. And I was not behind in this wave.??

I have been trying many use cases with ChatGPT for the past few days. But before I conclude my thoughts, let me show you some of the results I got.?

1. Why does ChatGPT not look the way people show it? It will not replace human writers. Not anytime sooner

AI is fed on data. These tools observe what humans like you have observed so far and then gather it for you. Ultimately, your scope is wider than AI. It relies on you, at least for the time being.?

2. It’s AI and doesn’t emote like us. It doesn’t connect with readers

I tried retrieving content for a newsletter that explains the features and benefits of marketing automation. And to my disappointment, the newsletter by ChatGPT sounded like a robot. It did not touch the pain nerves of prospects. It did not have a story, and it did not connect emotionally. Would that newsletter have converted for me? Definitely, no.?

And that's a red flag for a writer. Anything that doesn’t connect with readers is of no use.?

3. Verbose and repetition of ideas

Repeating the same idea in an article will lose your reader's attention. And that's not what you and Google want (for better SEO purposes).?

4. Distinct voice and engaging? No.?

You cannot give a specific voice to your article using ChatGPT. Even though the tool can write humorous content (only) if you ask, it will mix up the tone of the whole article. You can notice a witty start and a bland ending. It doesn't stay consistent.?

Choosing good words is a different thing and using them wisely is a different thing. No one knows your audience better than you do.

5. Missing pieces of psychology and analysis

The biggest difference between AI and humans is the power of the human brain. This complicated organ makes things uncomplicated for us. But oftentimes, we don't realise this.

ChatGPT will give you the benefits of a product feature if you ask. But will it be customer-centric? No. Will it rank them as per your market’s desires? No. Will it give you an elaborated analysis of any topic like this? Again, no. Psychology is superior in any marketing technique, and ChatGPT is nowhere in that game. Period.?

But how can ChatGPT complement you then?

  • It can direct you in your research

I tried to get a result on how Volkswagen’s “Think Small” campaign disrupted the market. The ChatGPT not only briefed me about the campaign but also spilled some information on Volkswagen’s parallel campaigns during the 1960s.?

While the information was not enough and lacked psychoanalysis of the campaign, it did give me another direction in my research. It may give you a headstart where most of the writers get stuck.?

  • It may help you create a good outline

Note that I am not supporting using the content of ChatGPT as it might be some rephrased content from the web. However, it gives you a clear idea of what people must be looking for in a topic and how other writers are putting their words.?

  • Bonus: I even tried if it could provide me with a banner ad image or not. It could not give me the image; however, it returned some text for the ad and a layout description:

Here it goes:

“The banner ad could feature a screenshot of the Slack app with the "Stay Away" feature highlighted or an image of a person enjoying some quiet time.

The main and subtext could be overlaid on the image, with the CTA button prominently displayed.

The CTA and texts are too bland for this banner ad, but as a marketing writer, one can try to design a basic image and present their ideas well.”?

Conclusion

My simple conclusion is that ChatGPT is not at all a content marketer or writer’s alternative. Throwing some low-quality content is not what your users want. It’s lazy marketing, and it won’t work. In the end, you need to rely more on yourself and take some help from AI. That’s what it’s been made for.?
