In today's advancement of AI and NLP, ChatGPT has emerged as a powerful and versatile tool. It's capable of generating human-like text and assisting users across various domains. However, it's crucial to understand when to rely on the information generated and when to be cautious.
When and where to use:
1. Summarization: An excellent tool for retrieving information from vast text sources and summarizing it. It can help you to quickly extract key insights from lengthy documents or articles.
2. Content Brainstorming: Content creators can use it to brainstorm ideas, generate content outlines, or even draft articles. It can be a valuable resource if you do not know how to articulate or get started with your content generation journey.
3. Programming and Coding Assistance: A guaranteed assistance for developers by providing code snippets, explanations, and troubleshooting tips. It can help with coding challenges and provide insights into various programming languages. However, just to remind it is an assistant and thus, I would recommend not solely relying on these generated snippets but rather use them with your own interpretation and context.
4. Language Translation: A nice tool to be used for language translation tasks. While it may not replace specialized translation tools entirely, it can be handy for quick translations and understanding different language texts. You can also use browser extensions to make it more interactive.
5. Answering Questions: It can provide answers to general knowledge questions and offer explanations on a wide range of topics. However, when it comes to factual information, it's essential to know that these types of models don't have the capability to recognise the most trustworthy sources for information delivery. Additionally, it's worth noting that these models are trained only up to a particular point in time, such as version 3.5 for the open-source ChatGPT, with the training data extending only until September 2021.
6. Personal Assistance: It can help with tasks like setting reminders, answering queries, and providing recommendations. It can serve as a virtual assistant for personal productivity. Again don't rely on facts and the latest information.

When and where NOT to use:
1. Decision Making: Avoid relying solely on ChatGPT or similar types of models for decision-making in your career, business, investment or others. It is better to consult an expert or use this tool only for your research.
2. Medical and Health Advice: Recently, I posted a study where medical professionals proved why not trust this tool for any medical advice. While this tool can provide general health information, it should not replace professional medical advice. Always consult with a healthcare provider for medical concerns.
3. Sensitive or Personal Information: Avoid sharing sensitive or personal information with ChatGPT or any similar type of AI model. Protect your privacy by refraining from disclosing confidential data.
4. Biased Content: It's worth noting that the content generated by these types of models can result in bias. Therefore, I strongly recommend thoroughly reviewing any information it produces before considering it for sharing with others.
5. Copyright Content: While this tool can assist with generating wonderful content, however, you must understand how a generative AI model works. In essence, these models are trained on historical data and subsequently generate new content, which may be similar to existing content. Hence, it's crucial to verify the origin of the generated content before utilization. As a gentle reminder, draw inspiration from these ideas to craft your unique content and not just copy-paste.
When Can You Rely on the Information?
You can generally rely on information from ChatGPT or similar types of models when it aligns with established facts and widely accepted knowledge. It's a valuable tool for initial research, brainstorming, and obtaining insights. However, always verify critical information from reputable sources, and use it as a complementary resource rather than a sole authority.
