ChatGPT Cyber Security Test (Human vs Machine)
Mark Williams
Cybersecurity Resourcing and Services. It's ALWAYS ABOUT THE PEOPLE!
So ChatGPT is going mainstream and quickly. In what seems like a few months it has gone from a capability discussed mainly by those who actually understand how it does it to those who are simply astounded by what it does.
If you don't know what it is here is an explanation from it's creators. However the best thing you can do to understand ChatGPT is to setup an account and have a play. And don't forget similar tech such as DALL·E 2 from the ChatGPT creators (OpenAI) that uses AI to create images. As demonstrated by the images in this post.
It seems like there won't be many industries unaffected by this development. And other similar projects that continue to progress this type of technology. Educational institutions are convulsing at this threat to their largely industrial revolution way of teaching (strong personal opinion!).
Few are seeing it as an opportunity. As frequently happens when new technology hits the masses, people react with fear and anger. Similar fear rippled through the populous when the steam train was first revealed. Some believed that the speeds traveled would cause people's bodies to be torn apart!
Similar fear rippled through the populous when the steam train was first revealed.
However this is a Cyber Security focused publication so today I want to examine how this technology could be of value to the community in assisting to deal with Cyber Security threats. Could this tech help overcome other technology threats? Will it empower people or will it mislead them? And to what degree can it be corrupted?
AND I WANT COMMUNITY FEEDBACK. SHARE YOUR OPINION ON THESE RESULTS.
Let's run a test and see what we get.

1 年I have noticed, using the technology quite a bit for penetration testing/ethical hacking, that while impressive for breaking down tough maths problems, the Python scripts it creates to solve enumeration and cryptography problems leave a lot to be desired. More often then not, they simply do not work or are not fit for purpose. The business world may be spared the worst case scenario of AI hacker attacks until further iterations of ChatGPT

1 年Hmm not sure I gave it a table of data on market moves in January and it said that health care was the worst performing sector in January with 3.9%. When I asked it to correct itself it worked out that energy 1.3% and utilities -3.0% were worse. So given this was a simple task it's clearly not hugely reliable.

1 年Thanks Mark. It really is an interesting piece of kit. I’ve started using it to create outlines for blog posts and the like. Don’t think it’s yet at a point where I’d simply publish what it provides simply because our readers at GrowthCatalyst would likely pick up on it not being our tone. It’s a great support act… who knows where it’ll head.

1 年in fact, many answers are just a combination of our already existing achievements of human thought set out in the text of scientific articles or other publications. Especially since we already know the "Answer to the Ultimate Question.." btw my suggestion for next questions: Can we stop the looming digital threat from cyber intruders by educating our children or do we need to change ourselves? what else can help?
