ChatGPT Store Open For Business

The ChatGPT GPT store is open for business and yes I spelled that correctly. They put GPT in the name twice.

Initial Thoughts:

The store is designed to favor quantity over quality and this leaves a big opening for the competition to make a major move.

If an alternative AI platform builds a competitive store that rewards quality instead of general appeal, they could take over OpenAI's market share very quickly.

Putting out content for free and hoping that you will get paid an undisclosed amount at an undisclosed point in the future is not going to appeal to the people creating the best bots.

It certainly holds zero appeal for me.

We'll see if the store improves and OpenAI finds a way to clarify the difference between GPTs and plugins, because right now they sure look the same...

Final Thoughts:

I am excited for the future and I realize this is simply the first iteration of something hinted at in November.

For most people the GPTs won't make using AI any easier, but there is so much potential here.

They need to clarify the pricing and payment models if they want to attract the best prompt engineers in the world.
